I got a great letter yesterday from Mercers who are dealing with the debt I have with Barclays at present. Long story short they have said they have tried to but not spoken to me regarding the debt. As such they are passing on my details to a local specialist company who ÔÇ£mayÔÇØ send a representative to my home address to discuss the matter in person.
The best of it is I have told Mercers and Barclays both about the PTD. My trustee has also done this. I even received a text of all things from Barclays confirming everything is on hold.
To say I am peeved is putting it mildly regarding this heavy handed approach to the debt. Do they not talk to each other even internally in the same firms!
My Trustee has been in contact with them today to sort this out (hats off to RMS again for being all over this for me and being very reassuring!) so fingers crossed no one will attend my address. I'm 99% sure it's just scaremongering anyway by Mercers.
I have no issue discussing matters but having someone come to my home address to press for payment is shocking and concerns me that they will not be discreet. I'm ashamed enough that I have got myself into this financial mess without someone coming to my house and potentially letting my neighbours also know all about it through their enquiries!
Rant over And CALM!

Hi Colski
If only. Unfortunately we are all in Call Centre world. Fortunately we have an office in Ireland and they deal solely with claims, getting them in and agreeing them, so we miss the brunt of the problem. If anyone gets hassle from creditors, we pass them to Liz to sort them out. I'm sure it's the broad Northern Irish accent which keeps them at bay.

Hi Colski,
One of the most annoying issues for someone when they have entered into a Trust Deed is the creditor/debt collector correspondence. I explain it to our clients that Barclays for instance will pass a batch of 5,000 or 10,000 records of non payers to their debt collection company but not tell them that some of those people who are not paying have entered into a Trust Deed, DAS or even Sequestration. They them come on the phone all guns blazing trying to talk and force you into making a payment.
Best thing you can do is advise your Trustee and it's good to hear Tenon are on the ball and contacting the companies. Sometimes it's a never ending circle and other times people receive very little correspondence.
I think it's extremely unlikely that someone will turn up to your house. It's a tactic that companies use to intimidate you into making a payment. Very rarely does this happen. If in the event it does, advise them you have entered into a Trust Deed, give them Tenon's details and even take theirs for Tenon to call them.
You could always record a ferocious dog barking and then play this through the letter box should someone turn up...

thanks guys... Yeah, I figured this to be the case.
All the letters seemed to have stoped for us bar Mercres. Our Trustee at RMS has been great and very reasuring.
It just makes you blood boil when you get this sort of approch from firms... Supose they are just doing a job however.

Mercers were one of my most annoying ones. They go beyond harrassment into a whole new level of annoying. I just gave up answering the phone and posted all letters to my trustee. Just keep doing that and they eventually go away. If I remember rightly, it took about 6 months.
Nothing left to discharge - everything's done and dusted!
Mercers were the last to stop writing to me, which was about 4 months after my Trust Seed was protected.....
I loved the letter telling me that someone would come to visit me on such and such a date. Let them. I'll be out. I was pretty much at work for most of the day and not in till 2100 (back shift) when I guess they don't visit.
Even if I was in...
Woman who lived down the stair, her nephew was in the police. I was told once - don't open your door if you don't want to.
You could be playing Rammstein at full blast with someone ringing your bell. If you don't fancy it, then let them keep ringing.
