Hi Glen, welcome to the forum!
Reaching out for help and advice is often the hardest part, so well done for being proactive.
I have been providing debt advice and solutions for quite some time and I would be extremely surprised if a Trust Deed impacted your employment. Generally, public bodies now treat debt solutions as a welfare issue, not a disciplinary one - for example, I have assisted Police Officers and Scottish Government employees enter Trust Deeds without impact on their jobs.
That being said, there is no way I, or anyone on the forum, could 100% guarantee it, as we are not representatives of HMRC and we have not reviewed your contract of employment.
My advice is to obtain debt advice in the first instance, it may be that there are other options that suit you better (e.g. DAS, sequestration, or informal options). Once you know what options you have, it would be advisable to contact the HR department and confirm their position. They should have a confidential conversation with you, without any risk to employment. If they give it the green light, you know you can proceed confidently.
My details are available via the 'Our Experts ' section on the forum, if you want to have a chat.
Thanks,
Nick
