My trust deed ended in September last year. Are there any restrictions on the type or credit I am allowed, other than lender reluctance?

Hi xpecx

In a word no. You have no restrictions once discharged.

Many thanks Mark.

Supplementary question - you know the usual spiel from a lender before going through a credit check where they ask you about CCJs and if you have you ever been bankcrupt etc - is the correct answer "No nothing" or "Yes I have been discharged from a Protected Trust Deed"?

Best to be up front and advise of the Trust Deed in my opinion.

Thanks again, I kind of knew both answers but confirmation is really useful. So greatly appreciated,

Personally I feel that as long as you are answering all questions honestly then you have nothing to worry about. If they want to know about tust deeds/voluntary arrangements with creditors then they should ask about it.

If you have no ccjs and were not bankrupt the answer is no and no. If they ask about trust deeds or defaults then the answer is yes. Do not be dishonest but don't give more away than you have to.

What are the potential repercussions of answering no to bankruptcy and CCJ's and the lender discovers down the line, for whatever reason, someone has been in a Trust Deed?

Glad that's over with....

Hi upstream.

The fact of the matter is that a trust deed is neither bankruptcy nor a CCJ.

I cannot therefore see how there could be any negative ramifications from that.
