Hi my main creditors are Santander & capital one. I understand that when I'm discharged the debts are settled and no longer exist. Since my IP is still in charge of things - would I be able to ask my IP to request Santander & Capital one to close the actual accounts I used as I no longer will be using them after discharge or is that something I have to do individually?

Hi sparky1

It's a good point. I suppose the debts wont be formally 'dead' until the trustee is discharged and the Trust Deed finalised, then at that point the Trustee is discharged and would have no authority to request they be closed. If that makes sense!

Mark,

I have spoken with my IP on the above matter and they said that I cant use the accounts anyway once I'm discharged - the only thing I would have to do is make sure my credit file is all up to date, which I already new.

Should have news by Friday regarding discharge, hopefully! How long does it take for the AIB to update the website to say I'm discharged?

Hi Sparky. I don't know how long it normally takes, but my record with AIB was updated immediately, and it showwed on my credit report with Noddle immediately. I was rather surprised it was so quick.

The Trustee is not showing as discharged yet on he AIB ROI yet (one month after my discharge).

Hope that gives you an idea.

It shouldn't take more than 2-3 weeks after you have received your Form 5 for the Register to be updated, Sparky.

Nearly there!
