I am confused about the dates for trust deeds and credit reports - have seen various things online stating it shows for 6 years and some say it is 6 years from date of signing, others from date of discharge - is there a clear answer to this? I entered a trust deed in December 2010, discharged with form 5 in June 2013 (early settlement accepted) and had hoped that the trust deed will disappear forever from December this year, not have to wait until 2019! looking to get a mortgage next year and deposit savings building up, realise that a mortgage is a whole other issue its more when will the trust deed disappear to give me a bit more of a chance of being accepted!

Welcome to the forum mortgagewnnabee.

There's a very clear answer - anything that goes onto your credit file stays there for six years.

Around six years after your trust deed began it will no longer show up on your credit report.

Not long to go!

Hi

If you have not already done so, check that the default date shown on each creditor file is the same (or very close to) the Trust Deed signing date. Each default file will also disappear six years after the default date shown so you want them off to disappear around the same time.

Thanks Firewalker - at the moment on noddle all the loans/credit cards are showing as default every month from the start of trust deed until it was settled in 2013 when it changes to partially satisfied/settled- is that correct or should I be contacting them to change it to not have defaulted from the date of the trust deed signing in 2010? they are all showing as partially satisfied/settled so I thought was all correct until I noticed all the previous months show D against them!

If I am understanding correctly, you are reading different records.
The D (which I think may be in a red circle) each month just shows that you were I default each month.

The most important thing is to check the actual Default Date shown on the Account. Different credit reports may show it in a different place, but look for the Default Date typed as a date. you can ignore the D and red circles. When the Default Date is correct (same as Trust Deed signing) then the whole record will disappear (along with the Ds and red circles).

I hope that makes sense to you. Focus on the typed Default Date showing in the account information somewhere.

Hi all. I signed in 6.6.13 and was discharged 11.12.15(early settlement from partner). This week I have been in contact by phone to all accounts in dedault to have credit files updated. I have found that experience is the easiest to read and yes it's ยฃ14 per month but worth it for a few months to ensure all info is correct. Out of the seven companies I had to contact (I also wrote letters to them all) four have updated purely by me phoning them however Natwest and rbs(2 accounts) are the slowest to update and Eva actually told me that until my trustee was discharged they wouldn't update my file. If they haven't completed this within 28 days I will escalate to a complaint. So my recommendation is to go on experian. It clearly shows the company name default date and if it is settled or not. Good luck ensuring all is correctly recorded.

Hi Nearlyover

You may not know that not all credit references agencies are updated the same unfortunately.

Checkmyfile (ยฃ7.99 pm) gives Equifax and CallCredit reference information.

Noddle is free and is a subsidiary of CallCredit.

Clearsccore is also free.

So as well as Experian if that is the main choice (and it is highly recommended) it would be worth registering for the free companies to ensure ALL Credit Reference files have been updated.

(based on my direct experience of the discrepancies).

It's a good point from Firewalker.

Different lenders subscribe to different credit reference agencies when they make lending decisions.

Good point well made firewalker. Clear score etc only update once per month and worth keeping an eye on them too.

Thank you Firewalker - checked again and they are all showing as defaulting one month after trust deed signing, which in the grand scheme isn't a lot later however going to write and ask them to change it to the December date, would be nice to see in January next year that everything has disappeared and start the new year fresh!

Just the one - it was all with bank of scotland so am hoping its just a simple task for them to do, if not then a few more weeks to wait for them all to fall off!

That makes sense mortgagewannabee.

I thought it might be a lot of work for not much reward if there were a lot of them.
