So after today's payment there are 7 to go......... I have never looked forward to a new year like I have this one. I can't believe the end is in sight ! So to anyone embarking on this journey ( read this forum, ask questions again and again ,especially re equity, get everything in writing ...everything ) and I swear your life will transform..... Only because you can sleep at night and know an end is in sight, regardless of how far that end is, just know its not easy, anything but, however , lesson for me is ...no more debt!! Happy new year to all fellow TD people and those who've helped..... You know who you are. Cheers x

Happy new year cal and plasticdaft.

It's lovely to hear that you both have so much to look forward to this year as a result of a previous decision to deal with your debts.

I'm sure that will be very encouraging for the many people who, at this time of year, are contemplating taking the first steps themselves.

Have to say the credit card took a hit but its a controlled hit and will be paid off as usual.

Next step, new sofa. Going to try dfs for credit after td drops off files in may/june.

They might have a sale on!!

Hi there and a Happy New Year to one and all !
To Cal, the last seven months will fly by. As for myself, well I only have one (woohoo) payment to go !
I know it is one thing to make the final payment and another to be fully discaharged, but Paul, whenever I see your posts on here it concerns me a little that you appear to have waited the best part of a year before being discharged ! Was there a reason for such a long interim period ?
I have been kept well in touch with events by my IP particularly as I am reaching the end of the road and although PPI is still being investigated, she doesn't see it as being too much of a problem and hopefully the holy grail that is the Form 5 won't be too long in arriving after my final payment is paid next month, but as I say, seeing your ps at the end of a lot of your posts Paul, does deflate me a little especially with the end less than four weeks away !

Only 6 to go myself. Really looking forward to a stress free summer. Here's hoping the home stretch flies by as quickly as the rest of the TD. Also hoping my car can limp to the finish line!

Glad that's over with....

Hi Cal

That was a good positive post to start the New Year with.

I bet the last 29 months have gone by pretty quick and I'm sure the next 7 will be the same.

Hi Cal,

A very positive and helpful post for people who haven't yet decided to ask for some advice or for those that have only just started out on the road to becoming debt free.

I noticed that you posted at 12.45am on New Year day. It's certainly a very positive way of thinking to start the new year.

I hope the next 7 payments fly by for you. Just think, this time in 8 months you will have no further payments and by this time next year you should be fully discharged.

Mark,29 months !!!! oh my God... that seems like forever and yet ,I ask myself, where did the months go? my focus has been on the countdown!!!Although I do recall you saying it would fly by !!
David,I remembered 12 months ago following the bells that I could say I finish TD next year!! so this year after the bells I couldnt resist posting...I remember my initial posts were posted in dread and trepidation as I was so scared at what might happen. It was nice to post and feel excited...What a difference 29 months makes!!

Hi cal.

I'm glad that you're so excited about putting all of this behind you later this year.

We know that in January a lot of people are reading the site and considering taking steps to deal with debts that have become a problem. I hope that your post provides some encouragement to take the difficult first step of asking for advice. I know I wrote about this earlier in this thread as well but it's a really important point for people that aren't sure how they're going to manage through this month let alone the remainder of the year.

Keep ticking those months off, cal - good to hear you are nearly there!

To AD - plasticdaft was actually discharged straightaway after completing his trust deed payments, it was just his trustee that remained in office for a while afterwards to clear up PPI - so don't worry!
