Hi again
I have been in a trust deed with one of the recommended firm for a bit now and to date, there has been no problems whatsoever.
I read the forum regularly and wondered exactly what part of the law tells a trustee how he or she should act and deal with things.
It seems to be muddled and the one way is different from another way.

Hi funscots
It's actually a good question and is divided into 3 main parts.
Firstly the Protected Trust Deed Regulations (The legal bit) and then there is the AIB's notes for guidance to Trustee's and also SIP 3a. The last 2 tell you how things should be dealt with ie meetings, getting signed meeting notes etc etc and this is the part which is open to interpretation by different forms.
My own advice is always to sit with an IP firm direct, discuss all points and ensure you get it confirmed in writing before doing anything. And i dont mean confirmed in writing at the 1st meeting where you are handed 26 bits of legal paper to sign!!
Please miss out all these new companies advertising which have appeared recently. During Coronation Street last night ( both esposides - Sad I know!!) There were 3 companies advertising. All middlemen companies who will eventually pass you on to someone else. People phoning, I assume, will expect to speak with an expert, but more than likely will speak with a call centre who have limited, if any, knowledge and will take down details and then pass you on to level 2 to follow it up. Where it goes from there, who knows and at what point does it go to someone who has sufficient knowledge? Again, who knows.
So what have we learned? I watch Coronation Street and I dont like companies who advertise.

There's also the one that sponsors Jezza Kyle in the morning. Kind of speaks volumes that does.
Nothing left to discharge - everything's done and dusted!
