Hi guys,
Just looking for some advice. We have been discharged from sept 13, have my form 5 although IP still in office waiting on 1 ppi, tried to open savings with coop but got knocked back!! Is this the norm for savings accounts as never had one before.... Or does anyone know of anywhere that will open a savings account for people just out trust deeds?

Thanks
Bravator

Hi Bravator

Your post sums up the totally illogical approach by banks. Firstly you are discharged and secondly looking to SAVE money. No risk there to the bank.

I'm not sure I've came across this question before to be honest as it's normally questions on basic accounts pre and post trust deed. I wish I could guide you to one, however maybe try a few on the internet and see how it goes. Let us know if you are successful.

Barclays, Santander (wife is post sequestration and has a current account and savings with Barclays, you need to open the account in a branch).

You could also by bonds at ยฃ100 a pop with NSI, credit union or shove it under your pillow

Hi tda
Yes we have a basic account with them.. You would think they would want to open one up for us as they see the surplus money in the account... So annoying.

Maybe a Post Office savings account Bravator?

Might be worth a try.

I don't know how relevant this is but i suppose its worth a mention. I bank with tsb and i still have a basic account which i used throughout my trust deed. Last week i opened an additional savers account online without any problems and it pays interest at the end of the year. I can transfer money easily online and my application was approved instantly, but the overdraft feature had a huge X next to it ๐Ÿ™‚
