Hi all, My trust deed is in its final few months....yay. I have a bank account and credit card which are a part of my trust deed (all Santander). At the end of my trust deed, once everything is dealt with, will these accounts be automatically closed as I'm sure santander will be glad to see the back of me?

I'd be surprised if they weren't closed, sparky1 - although to be fair I am regularly surprised by the actions of banks!

Hi sparky

the way I always look at creditors is that they sit frozen for the duration of the trust deed, then after the final dividend is paid then are closed with any balance of debt written off.

Sparky1,

Best to just find a new bank. I like to see it as he Trust Deed drawing a line under everything.

All the banks offer excellant switching services, quick and easy. Perhaps the new account could symbolise the new era of your finances, leaving all the old accounts and creditors in the Trust Deed.

Thanks all for your reply. I do have another bank account Rob which I opened before I started my trust deed as I was advised to do so by my IP. Hopefully, Santander just close the accounts tied into my TD and be done with it. Perhaps I'll ask my IP to request the closure on my request when the closure point of my TD happens.

Hi sparky1.

The point is that the debts will no longer exist when you are discharged. Santander should reflect that in their records and reporting.

Without debts due on the accounts I cannot see how Santander could, or would want to, stop account closure.
