just wondering if anyone else has dealt with this company before
I am quite new to this thing and was a tad adverse to getting invloved with a trust deed but It just seemed the right option at the time, However I cant say that I am very impressed with this company as they have not really explained to me exactly what will happen once you sign on the dotted line.
I have had a couple of issues really due to lack of knowledge on my part but feel I have not been so much mislead but they Have not been totaly upfront with me and the fact they got me to sign somthing and never left me a copy to look over got me worried
At this moment I have been "Gazetted" but do not trust this company at all anybody else had problems with them ?
Welcome to the trust deed forum protected mode.
RSM Tenon have been associated with this site for some time (Kevin who answers questions in this forum works with them) and the feedback from visitors that have used their services has been very positive.
As you have a couple of concerns I'd encourage you to take them up with your contact at the firm. Hopefully everything will then be able to continue in a way that you're happy with.
Hiya Im with RSM Tenon.. Matter of fact it was Kevin from the forum here that came out and did my appt and explained everything to me.. He was very patient with all the questions I had and I felt very comfortable asking anything and everything and i think i probably did.
If I had any issues/problems I just picked up the phone and called my contact person who was great in dealing with any issues that have come up so far..
I just feel there have been a few things that I should have been told about , ie they contacting my life insurance company,my banks accounts being closed,I was not told this would happen and yeah I am peeved, specially about the banl account ..
Hi protected mode
I'm with RSM Tenon through their Glasgow office and it was Euan that came to see me. He was very patient with me when asking questions, I was in an emotional state back then, I felt guilty and ashamed about what I was doing but he was really good and took time to explain everything and definitely made a point of telling me to get a new bank account and withdrawing my money from my old bank.
I agree with Amerififer that any concerns I've had since have been answered by my contact in the office. If you've got a problem send Kevin a message I'm sure he'll look into it for you.

Hopefully the fact that I represent RSM Tenon on this forum is indicative that you shouldn't worry about whether we can be trusted. No doubt I would be copping a lot of flak on a daily basis on here if it were otherwise.
Of course we do endeavour to cover every single relevant issue when meeting with prospective clients, though inevitably with such a complicated procedure there may be the odd piece of information that people feel they need clarification on afterwards, which we are of course more than happy to provide.
If you'd like to contact me through the buttons on this site I would be very pleased to call you and answer any queries you have.
I have been in my PTD for almost a year now and although I visit the forum daily, I haven't posted till today. I just wanted to reasure anyone reading this topic about RSM tenon. I was in such a huge mess that I thought there was no way forward, no way to keep my house and no way I could pay back any of my debts/creditors which I really wanted to do. After many tears and sleepless nights I was put in contact with Kevin at RSM. After not many days Kevin came all the way down to the borders for a face to face meeting (running the gauntlet of a mad Labrador!!).
He was just great, explained it all, answered all rediculous questions, reasurred me that I could get it all sorted. He answered emails, kept me up to date and sent all paper work quickly!!
I can't thank him and RSM tenon enough!! After I got my protected TD I was given a named contact who I can mail or call.
It's hard work being in a TD but being on the road with tenon is the best decision I ever made!
I wish anyone doing this the best of luck!!
Thanks
Rachel:)
Hi Rach68
Excellent post and well done Kevin.
It is the way all Trust Deeds should be conducted. I appreciate that a lot of people may be nervous about a face to face, but there is no need to worry as it should be fairly relaxed and gives the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.

Thanks for welcome Mark and TDA. Shoulda said before that all of you on this forum have been such a reasurrance and fount of knowledge.
I sound like such a fan but people seem quick to complain and slow to praise.

I agree Rach68!
I love that people are giving their time and experience freely, as well s the experts, the people who have gotten to the decision making stage and those getting started and seeing it through. I see the value in face to face meetings but I wonder if anyone else feels bound to work with an individual after large amounts of time have been spent going through options, over several meetings?
Hello
In my opinion RSM TENON have not been up front with me at all, I am not sure what they are going to pull next without me being none the wiser.
The bank account in question was not one of my creditors and the life insurance policy has no surrender value but at no point did they say they would be contact either of these people , To have some one from RSM TENON phoning me to tell me that my bank accounts are being closed I found not only shocking but totally bizzare, why are my bank telling them what they should be telling me 1st , what is RSM TENON doing talking to me bank , I dont owe them anything ? why did they contact my life insurance company ?
Reason in my mind ..looking for cash !! simple . the more money in this trust deed the more they get out of it ..I do not turst RSM TENON one little bit.
Hi protected mode.
I'm not sure why your bank would have contacted RSM Tenon rather than you first. However, that's an action that your bank chose to take and RSM Tenon appear to have acted reasonably by passing on the information to you. As you have appointed them to act for you I don't think it's unreasonable that they received this call and passed the message on to you.
Hopefully the following thread will help to explain why a Trustee might need to speak to a life insurance company:
http://www.trust-deed.co.uk/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1177&SearchTerms=life,insurance
Most life insurance policies don't have a surrender value so I don't think that your point that they were looking for cash is accurate or fair. However, in the unlikely event that the worst were to happen to you, the payout from a life insurance policy might be required to help repay your creditors. Any trust deed company needs to take that into account as part of managing a case where a life insurance policy is in place.
It's not the case that "the more money in the trust deed the more they get out of it". Proposed fee levels will have been notified to your creditors when they were asked whether or not they will allow the trust deed to become protected. The creditors will therefore have already been notified about the fees. It is the case that a Trustee has a responsibility to collect what can reasonably be paid into a trust deed for the benefit of your creditors, but unless this involved a whole lot of extra unexpected work it truly would be for the benefit of the creditors alone.
I do appreciate that you feel frustrated and uncertain at the moment and suggest that you take up Kevin's invitation to talk through the issues that you have with him directly.
Hi protected mode
The bank will not have been told about your TD by Tenon, all the banks look at the Edinburgh Gazette to ckeck if any of their customers have entered into a Trust Deed. Some banks do not bother as long as they are not a creditor, but other banks automatically freeze the account- of their own accord.
I am sorry you feel that everything had not been explained to you, but as Kevin says, if that was a common occurence he would not be on the website. Tenon are a very trustworthy and respectable firm, so i am sur if you contact Kevin things can be sorted for you.
