OMG the thought of even applying for credit makes my palms sweaty. Im going to keep my head down. Im enjoying being debt free for the first time in 24 years.

Some folk, myself included feel that using credit properly makes the whole debt rehabilitation process complete. Avoiding credit forever means credit has won. I want tobe able to control myself with credit, not have it control me.

Its not the way everyone will want to act after getting into bother, each to their own.

That is exactly how i feel, i want to be in control, not the other way round

I've been approved for a vanquis card today. So today is the start of a long recovery to get my credit file back in order.

Hi sparky1

Great news sparky. I think in current times not having the use of a credit or debit card is difficult as most things are online. I never fancied standing in a queue of 200 people in the rain to buy cinema tickets when these can be pre ordered and picked up. I'm just saying that coz I'm going to see Simon Evans tonight.

I've always found that it's the perception of future credit to companies that's the strange thing, as the end of the Trust Deed should free up a surplus amount of at least the level of previous contribution to an individual who has little or no credit repayments and therefore, within certain boundaries, be a better credit risk.

Mark, are you allowed out? I thought all you experts and TDA were all chained to lap-tops waiting to cater to our every whim.

Nothing left to discharge - everything's done and dusted!

Great to hear you've managed to get one.

I'm waiting till my discharge comes through before I apply for one, in fact I thought the terms of my TD said I wasn't allowed to take any credit while in the TD?..... anyone?

^^ I'm not sure about the specific wording of yours Jengis, but mines states I am not allowed to apply from credit more than £500 whilst in my trust deed. So I assume if the credit card had a £500 (or under) credit limit, this would be acceptable?

Hi Mick

The credit restriction applies only to Sequestration, not trust deeds. It's actually a criminal offence in sequestration, however I can't see how this could be pursued/enforced in a trust deed.

I must be becoming more credit sensible as I asked for a low credit limit on my new card just in case they wanted to be generous - However I was told on the phone that limit information would come with the card. During a trust deed closure can I be expected to undertake a review in sending in bank statements like previous reviews?

Hi sparky1.

It isn't impossible that there could be a final review.

I applied on Friday and was accepted on Saturday - yay!

I know all this info will come with my statement but do I need to pay before my statement is produced to avoid interest?
