This is the first year that I can remember where I haven't had to scrimp for months to buy my sons birthday pressie. Even before the trust deed, I had sooooo much debt that it was a matter of carefully splitting the cost between 4 cards. It actually felt nice this morning when I looked at him going through his stuff and I didn't feel sick thinking I'd overspent (not that I send loads anyway).

I might be struggling to get the whole thing ended up the moment but that mad me smile this morning.[:D]

Hi gillian

I thought you were going to end your post ...Part 3, like the old Ian Dury song.

Good post and to be honest it's the way things should be. The law should and is designed to balance things out and make life that bit easier.

What a lovely post gillian.

I hope you've both had a great day?

It's not over yet. We're off out for tea on his birthday!!! I don't have to use the 'lets wait till the weekend' reason. That translates as I don't get paid for another few days and hopefully by then you'll have forgotton.

Its funny because we stick rigidly to our budget and in the last week of the month we can be hard pushed for grocery money if anything else has cropped up,and end up going without, when we know full well that we have savings accounts now with some cash in them!!!

Its actually harder to adjust to having money left over than it was when everything was done on credit!!!

But much nicer this way.

I think I am now too scared to spend, but the wifes makes up for it!!!!!

I know how you feel Paul. I look at so much in a 'ohh, I'd like that' way then something says that I can't or shouldn't have it. I check my bank account everyday - knowing that there'll be money there and I check that everything has come off. It's ridiculous.

And Mark and Shona, if I could have worked out how to tag an MP3 on the first post, I'd have had that playing!
