I finished my trust deed in Aug 2012 and was discharged in September 2013.

Since then, I have been following the advice on here and have written to the creditors to ask them to update my credit record. Two have responded and corrected my record so far. I check every month and will keep on top of them - so that was much appreciated advice and I am getting there one at a time.

It was a bit difficult at first to find the correct addresses an department to write to in the companies, but after a couple of challenges I did source them.

I have also very recently been able to change utility provider, so whatever credit check they carried out seems to have been satisfactory for changing.

I used to have a Next account which I did not use and did not realise was still 'open' until I saw my credit report. I tried it to see if it would activate and allow me to build credit. I bought a few things in the past few months and have paid it off each month. They have increased my credit limit automatically but I have requested they reduce it.

This is really to let people know that the advice from this site has been invaluable and that putting in the effort to correct and improve things does bring results!

Thanks to everyone for the support - and for those nearing the end of their trust deed, the effort to re-build things is worthwhile.

All very positive stuff. Credit file sorting is a big pain at times but perseverance is key.

That's good to hear Firewalker. You are a few months ahead of where I want to be at the moment. Progress bit by bit...
