Hi folks,

My trust deed finished on the 24th of may but my trust deed firm still took a payment on the 29th of may...is this normal practise? Plus I have not received any letters confirming that I was finished

Hi
Most TD are set up with a standing order as far as I'm aware. If it was a standing order, you should have cancelled it after the last payment as you are the one who controls the standing order, it's different from a direct debit. If it was a standing order it would have been set up either until a certain date, until a certain number of payments had been made or until further notice therefore your trustee would receive the payments your bank made

Thanks for the reply saabrina, yes it is a standing order, so would you recommend that I cancel this ASAP?

Count your payments to ensure you have paid extra then contact your trustee regarding a refund. Assuming there were no arrears or extra payments due.

Hi John

Best to call the office and have them check this.

The payments are normally via standing order, so if there's an overpayment, its easily repaid to your account.

If it started June 2010 then 36th payment would be May 2013.

Hi John

Just checked for you and there is indeed an extra payment.

I've asked Beth at the office to credit this back to you which should be fairly quick. Trust Deed has also been put through for closure, so you should receive your Form 5 fairly soon.
