Looking for some advice.....I currently live with my parents and I am 12 months into my trust deed. I am looking to move in with my girlfriend (to rent) but I'm unsure if this will have any sort of affect on my trust deed?? I'm confident my level of payment to my trust deed will be able to remain the same and I am aware that anywhere we will be renting will probably have to go in her name. Would I be able to move in to rented accommodation without any issues?

Hi Iambuzz

I don't see it being a problem. The Trustee may need to look at the revised expenditure, but I'm sure that there won't be an increased surplus after moving taking account of the normal parental discounts!

Thanks mark.

I reckon with both of us paying rent I will still comfortably be able to pay my current contributions.

And you are right about parental discounts!!!

My own daughter realised the light switch moved 2 ways only after she moved into her own place!

Not to make you feel old Mark but you sound like my Dad. When I lived with my parents he always went on at me and my brother for leaving lights on and neither of us paid any attention.

It's only after having my own house that I realise why he went on at the pair of us and now I do the exact same thing to my step son about leaving the lights on.

Strange how the roles reverse.

As you all probably know from my previous postings I'm waiting on my discharge from my TD. What would happen now if I gave up my rented flat and moved back to my parents house could this effect anything to do with my TD if I were to move?

Hi David

As much as I hate to say it, I think we all become our Dads! Although I did enjoy asking her if she had accounted for Rent, gas, electricity, factors charges, tv licence, telephone bill, clothing, food, petrol, car tax, car insurance before she had calculated her going out money!

All of this is becoming a bit too freudian for my liking.

I don't see why moving would have any effect on your TD sparky1.

Hi Kevin

In my experience there are 2 points when it all changes and balances out (especially for daughters) When they go from Primary school to Secondary and you can no longer by her all the cheap crap trainers and such and when they leave to get their own place, when they finally realise the true cost of those trainers!

And there is no fairy who does the cooking cleaning washing ironing shopping etc etc etc

Re your moving, do it now save all those outgoings from your own flat + your TD payments and you will be in a much better position cash wise to move on when the time is right. Oh and do switch the lights of in their house your digs won't go far:-)

Completed 3yr TD Sept '12 discharged Sept '12. Trustee discharged Jan '13
