Dear all,
I signed my Trust Deed in June 2008 and was successfully discharged in June 2011. The Trust Deed itself dropped off my credit file last month and tomorrow will see the very last of my defaulted accounts do likewise.
My wife and I have an appointment with a mortgage broker on Friday afternoon and while we're deliberately keeping our expectations low, we are nonetheless hopeful of securing a successfull application in principle.
The last six years have been an extremely valuable learning experience for me. As well as being older, I am also wiser when it comes to managing my finances. Entering into a Trust Deed is one of the best decisions I have ever made, and has made sure that getting into unmanageable levels of debt is most definiitely a thing of the past for me.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the experts and the other forum users for all of their help and advice over the years. It has been greatly appreciated.
Many thanks.
Hi imcville
It's always good to hear when someone enters a trust deed and comes out (relatively) unscathed.
Fingers crossed that it all goes well on Friday.

Hello imcville
What a great post. Thanks for sharing the positive stage you are at. I am about a year behind you. I wish you a successful meeting and good outcome with your mortgage broker.
Best wishes for the future.
Hi all - I'm happy to report that today's appointment went better than expected, and my wife and I were accepted in principle for a mortgage via the Lift scheme (a form of shared equity).
We now have to keep our fingers crossed that our application for the Lift scheme itself is successful, as to obtain a mortgage via the normal route will require us to come up with a 15% deposit.
The mortgage broker was very understanding of my situation regarding the Trust Deed, and told me he had previously helped a number of people in similar situations.
All in all a very positive experience. I must admit I was almost expecting flat out refusal of any kind of mortgage, but at least I now know there's hope!
Fantastic news, well done and good luck.
Are you allowed to name the mortgage broker?

Well done imcville. I hope that the process carries on smoothly.
You're welcome to share details of the broker here if you like (we just ask people not to post links to other websites). Important for other readers to remember that you're some distance out of your trust deed now though.
Hi all - apologies, not checked in here for a couple of weeks so just catching up on messages.
Delighted to report that my wife and I were accepted for the Lift scheme and are now proceeding with the purchase of a property by way of shared equity. We still have the full mortgage application to get through, but (without wishing to jinx it...) I am quietly optimistic about that.
The mortgage broker we are dealing with is First Mortgage (they have branches throughout Scotland) - they have been extremely helpful thus far and I would definitely recommend them.
Hi imcville
Great news and it goes to show that there is life after a Trust Deed.
All the best for the future and the big move... I've just moved house last week and am falling over boxes I fell over in the last move!!

Full mortgage application was submitted on Thursday last week - we're told we should hear back within 2 weeks, assuming no delays.
No shortage of suspense in this process!
MORTGAGE OFFER RECEIVED!!!
Words cannot express how happy and relieved I am. This marks the very last milestone in my Trust Deed journey, and at the risk of repeating myself I'd like to once again thank everyone (experts and other contributors alike) for all of their help and advice over the past six years.
Now it's time to celebrate....
Great news imcville, gives hope to the rest of us.
Good luck in your new home and debt free life!
