Anyone ever been accepted for this post TD? I made the leap today after deciding to ditch my Coop Cashminder.

In my haste, I think I might have ticked a box I shouldn't have. It asked if I was bankrupt/insolvent and if I had entered into an agreement with creditors. I took it to be that it was referring to current circumstances but not sure and they don't send you a copy of the application I have been discharged for over two years now.

Worried this might come back and bite me but they have allocated me an overdraft, account number etc and are sending a card out.

Anyone got this account and had it cancelled due to formerly being in a TD? I should say that HBOS were one of my creditors

Hi CIF

I read your post and wondered if you had considered upgrading your Cashminder account to the Account Plus with the Co-op?

I have had the Account Plus (current account, deposit account, cheque book, Visa Debit card and ยฃ200 overdraft free) since just before taking our a TD in 2009. I think I managed to get it just before the restrictions went in.

I have found it really great to work with and on one occasion (yes, only one believe it or not) when I accidentally went into overdraft, they wrote to me to let me know and did not charge me anything because I had brought it back into credit within a couple of days.

I was really just curious the reason for not trying for the upgraded Co-op account - if you don't mind sharing with me.

As long as they aren't asking whether you were previously insolvent etc then it seems to me you have answered honestly. I guess it comes down to the exact wording really.

Hi Firewalker,

Not been on here for a while, hope all is well with you.

I did consider Coop but they knocked me back for a credit card a couple of months back, so didn't want to apply to them again.

Kevin - that's what I can't remember i.e. the exact wording. Hopefully it won't be an issue. Worried they might do manual checks of their old records. I will report back if it goes pear shaped.

Hi CIF.

Could you begin a new application without submitting it?

If it turns out your previous answer wasn't accurate, you could then contact them to confirm the position.

Thanks CIF. The link was helpful to. I, too applied for a card from Co-op and was refused. I subsequently got an Aqua card.

I wonder what would have happened if you had called Customer Servies to upgrade your Cashminder to Account Plus.

Maybe they would have given a different answer if the default / TD was off my credit reference file.

I wish you luck in getting a suitable account.

The banks operate a system to help each other to weed out potentially "fraudulent" applications CIF. That includes information provided in applications that is subsequently flagged up as being incorrect.

If you've made an honest mistake, I'd tell them as quickly as you can.

I've graduated (if that's the word) to two mainstream credit cards now. Started with Vanquis, then onto Aqua and Capital One. Got accepted with MBNA and Halifax recently.

I know, I'm considering it:/

Odd that they have accepted me though and gave me account number, overdraft, sending card out though?

Well, obviously I don't know what their policies and procedures are CIF - so who knows what they will and will not have checked at this time.

Please be careful though.
