So,

Yesterday (Thursday) I made my final payment towards my trust deed. I haven't missed any payments etc in the last 3 years, so my question is simply this. What now? Ive read a lot on here about a "Form 5", how long does that usually take to come through? after I get this, is that the end or is there more still after that?

Just looking forward to getting back to some normality, the last 5 years since i was made redundant have been a nightmare. good to be almost back on my feet again.

I dont know if its relevant, but ive been with RSM tenon, I dont know if it has a bearing what company you have been with? (I'm sure I read some companies take an age to send out this "form 5".

Hi mick1985

If all matters have been dealt with ie contributions/assets etc then 3-4 weeks is not unreasonable to receive your Form 5 which is your discharge.

PPI investigations have held mine up. I paid my last contribution 14 months ago and only when I saw a post on here that I hounded them to discharge me. I finally got my letter yesterday but I dont even feel excited by it now:-( If it had happened a year last June I would have been elated!! If they have not yet completed all the PPI investigations dont be alarmed. Let them know you have a right to be discharged following those investigations. Good luck

Hi. I also am nearly finished. Just 3 payments left now. What will happen in these 3 months. Is there a final review due at the end. I am hoping that once this is over I can sell my car to buy another one as mines is on its last legs. My TD company have already said they have no interest in it but do I need to wait till I am discharged so I can sell it. It's only worth about ยฃ1000

Hi mick1985.

RSM Tenon aren't known here as a company that delays people's discharge from trust deeds without there being an appropriate reason.

I'm sure Kevin who posts here (and who works for this firm) will reassure you on this point when he next visits the forum.

Hi Mrs Mac.

Each firm will have slightly different procedures at the end of trust deeds.

Why not call your firm next week to enquire how this will work and to ask them about options regarding your car (which I doubt will be an issue - but you'll want to clear it first).

thanks for the kind words everyone (and speedy advice).

I was led to believe at the time that RSM Tenon were a well reputed company, so I'm confident they will resolve my case fairly efficiently.

There's no houses etc involved (I'm a tenant, not an owner), and it was only one source/company I owed money to (my car at the time which was sold at the beginning of the TD as part of it), simply a case of being made redundant and not being able to pay for it and it massing up interest and then it being passed onto debt collection etc.

So hopefully its one of the more "straight forward" ones for this company to resolve, cant be one of the most complex ones either.

Hi Mick1985,

Well done on the completion of your payments to your Trust Deed.

Your case sounds pretty straight forward and I don't imagine there will be many outstanding issues.

Redundancy has been a big factor in people struggling with their debts. Everyone has outgoings based on their income at that point in time and if something changes then it can make it difficult to cover the bills and all of the outgoings if they have had to take on a lower paying job. I'm glad the Trust Deed has worked for you and allowed you to come out of a difficult period in a better financial position.

Enjoy the spare cash each month and good luck for the future.

Hi Mick,

You should find the discharge process is pretty quick and tied up within a few weeks.

As trust deed assistant said, I work for RSM Tenon myself so if you'd like to contact by clicking the button and let me know your name/address then I'd be happy to make sure your case manager is prioritising this for you.

Hi Kevin,

I have been in touch with my agent (Nicola) over the weekend who is now looking into my case, so I should hear back in a few days hopefully what happens now.
