H all, I paid my final payment to my trust deed at the end of june(previous post about redundancy etc) they took my Double time for last two weeks £1688 and left me with everything statutory which to me is fair, although the £1688 was taxed(minor gripe)

The problem I have is that I had heard nothing from them until August, when I phoned them. I was told verbally that there is a lot of discharges just now and mine was at the bottom of that pile and that there was discharges from April not done yet,

I then got a letter in the post saying they are extending my trust deed for another three months to bring it to conclusion, although no further payments would be

That's like five months after my final payment before I will be discharged, can they do this.

Hello cbkerr.

I'm not aware of any time limits I'm afraid and it seems as though your firm may be prioritising other types of work at the moment.

You have the option to make a complaint to them if you feel strongly about the matter.

Thanks, just think that when they received a large ppi refund, then a large portion of redundancy etc that all would be dealt with quickly. I presume they are paid handsomely for work, maybe they could hire more staff?? Lol

Hi cbkerr.

Irrespective of which firm you're with, they need to prioritise how their staff are using their time. Sometimes dealing with case closures isn't the most lucrative use of their time so it can slip down the priority list. I don't know if this is what has happened in this case, but do hope that you'll be moved up the list quickly.

Hi sorry to be a pain but in the letter it says for a period of no longer than three months can I hold them to that as that is what they have written

You should certainly expect them to do it within this timescale - though am not sure how you would hold them to it if it is not completed by then, other than raising a complaint.

Hi cbkerr

I think its a strange comment by the firm to say its being extended when this not not the case as such.

Seems to be a softer way of saying it will takes us another 3 months to wind this up.

This seems quite long and actually works out to a period of 6 months to close, which is certainly not ideal.

Cbkerr, I wouldn't expect that your IP would phone you with an update as it sounds like their office is unorganised chaos!!! I emailed/phoned my IP on a weekly basis asking for an update on how things have progressed since the last time I emailed/spoke to them. You have met your obligations under your trust deed - it's over to you now to make sure they keep to their obligations.
