Final payment for my trust deed was made on 01/05/2011 & ive been waiting patiently for my discharge letter which i still havent received.
My trust Deed was with Begbies Traynor Dundee who ive also just contacted via their home website to advise me when ill receive it.
Clicked on Begbies Traynor on your trust deed firms but it wont send my message saying code not entered when there wasnt a code shown.
I have checked credit files with experian-doesnt even show trust deed therefore giving me false "good" credit score.
Checked callcredit-showing trust deed still active
Tried checking Equifax & was given number to phone & ref no...phoned & they advised i have to send them documents...i was rather frustrated by this point & told the customer advisor to cancel it n that i wont bother.
i will call equifax back as i do want access to all the credit files so that i can get correct info updated on them...then finally ill make a start to rebuilding my credit score...ill apply for high interest credit card n go from there.
Thanks Lynne

Hi Lynne.
Hopefully Begbies Traynor will get back to you at the start of next week. It does take a few weeks to bring everything to a conclusion so they dont seem to be massively behind schedule at this stage. The function you mention on this website is to contact the support team here rather than Begbies Traynor though I can see there is an error with it; thank you for pointing it out so we can sort it out.
Your credit records will vary from company to company. I wouldn't worry too much about one that is giving you a good score.
Hi Lynne, I am also with Begbies Traynor dundee and whilst talking to my advisor the other day she told me that there office is running about 2 months behind, so i would suggest giving it at least 3 and a half months from your final payment to be discharged.

Hi Lynne
Hope you don't mind me voicing my opinion here but I can understand your frustration about not receiving the discharge letter. If gemgem's estimation is correct I wouldnt think it acceptable that it would take maybe 3 to 4 months to receive your discharge letter and I would not be happy to wait that time. The trustee should be running the business like any other to meet client expectations and to provide you with the service you've effectively paid for. Im not trying to stir things here but if I expected my customers to wait for a service for several months I wouldnt hear the end of it and would rapidly lose further business. If there are any unforeseen circumstances resulting in a delay then you should be advised of it
Good luck and hope you receive it soon so you can move on
Thanks to you all for advice, while i can understand companies are very busy & can run behind,we the clients shouldnt be expected to wait longer than advised timescales.
Yes i know i`m being a tad impatient but im sure im not alone & fellow Trust Deeders agree that once your final payments made its time to move on & start taking action to update & improve credit records.
As we know its not just the waiting for the discharge letter but then we need to contact credit reference agencies to update records so they all give correct & true credit reports....Its all valuable time when you`ve spent 3 long years reaching the milestone.
I did receive a letter a few weeks ago from begbies traynor advising that even though my trust deed was completed i have to inform them if i receive any compensation payments from banks for interest fees...& that a questionaire has been issued by local agents so im to return it in 1st instance...i stupidly binned the letter in disappointment as it wasnt a discharge letter like id thought.i havent had any correspondence about anything from anywhere....
Time will tell & i`ll see what response i get from my email to Begbies Traynor.
Thanks guys ๐
Lynne
Hi Lynn
Hi Lynne,
I have been on holiday, so I am just catching up with forum again.
I know this is very fustrating for you, however, it can sometimes be the creditors who cause the delay. You would not believe the amount of creditors who do not return the required forms to allow us to send them the money you have paid - mad isn't it!!
On the matter of the letter you received regarding compensation, it may well be in connection with the recent change of heart by some banks to refund any mis-sold PPI on loans etc. If banks refund any PPI, bank charges etc, the money should go to the Trust Deed estate. If this is the case with you, the Trustee will not seek to be discharged until the funds are in, but unfortunatley, that means you will not be dischared either.Do you know if your Trustee was applying for a refund of any charges, PPi etc?

Hi Lynne.... so good they named you twice..sorry!!

Hi Lynne
Shona is correct, creditors can be a problem firstly in sending in their claim and secondly cashing the cheque. However you could argue that the Trustee has had 3 years to chase & adjudicate on claims. We have an office in Ireland whose sole job is to chase claims and supporting paperwork. I certainly pity them as its no fun getting the runaround from the 4th person in the call centre.
That said, if you signed after April 2008, then the discharge process is a lot easier that it was previously and there is no reason why you cant be discharged immediately, while the Trustee remains in office until the case is finalised. The 2 are separate issues.

Thank you so much Shona & Mark for advise there,
Im not aware of them applying for refund of charges or PPI`s.
I received a reply from a Begbies Traynor employee asking for a contact name or which office i dealt with so i gave my Trustee name & hopefully should receive at least some guidance as to timescale of my wait.
Ill keep you informed ๐

Hi Lynne, As I mentioned before I am with BT Dundee and I also recieved the same letter as you a few weeks ago, I am also at the end of my trust deed. The letter stated that James cargill would be sending me a questionnaire and that it needed completing and returning with reference to any ppi I may have had, otherwise it could prevent discharge of the TD.
I waited a week for the questionnaire and nothing so I Phoned the company myself and left a message, James called me back, He was most helpful and was in the process of speeding things up for me as at that point I had not even been put onto his system, I had already been through all my paperwork and expressed that I never took any PPI and he was happy to email BT and explain that without the need to fill in the questionnaire, I would suggest trying to push things along a little and I am also guessing that the delays at BT maybe to do with all the chasing of PPI and the sooner that is sorted the faster the discharge papers will arrive (Fingers Crossed).

Hi Lynne,
Im not sure that I can post the number on here so I have private messaged you the number, If for some reason you do not receive it just call BT and ask for the number, the number they gave me has now changed and the phone line gives you the new one, which is the one I am sending you. I just let James a message and he phoned back that afternoon.
Great idea with the prepaid credit card, I have been looking to do the same thing any advice on the best ones would be great.
Let me know how you get on.
