Hi Marie

Irrespective of which company you may or not go with, my advice would be to avoid cold calling companies at all costs.

Hi Marie

Again, my advice would be to speak directly with a Trust Deed firm, not through adverts and especially not cold calling. Draw up a clear list of debts amounts and an income/expense statement and a huge list of questions re. contributions, house, overtime, assets etc and make sure that you sign nothing at the meeting. Wait until all matters have been clarified in writing, then decide what best suits you and no one else

Should we have to pay any money up front to a trust deed firm?

No, never. My advice would be to contact one of the experts on this site as they all have excellent recommendations from their clients on here. Mark McFadyen, who has already responded to you on this thread, is always particularly highly spoken of. Just have a browse or search his name on this forum to see for yourself.

Thanks. Mark you appear to be based in Glasgow which is quite a distance away from me do you assist people anywhere? I am off on annual leave next week and would really like to get some good advice. Is it beneficial to have someone in the same town or does it matter? I just need to get my head around the options we have and how things work it is quite a scary prospect and we have no-one to talk to about it as we are so ashamed of the situation we are now in.

Hi marie.

This site recommends the firms represented in this forum by Mark, Kevin, Shona and Chris. We're not saying they're the only good trust deed firms though, there are others.

I don't offer any comment on the firm you mention, but my years of posting on this forum make me clear that avoiding cold callers is a very good idea.

Please don't pay any upfront fees to anyone.

Hi again marie.

All the firms represented here cover the whole of Scotland and will be happy to meet you at your home or another convenient local location.

A face to face meeting with a professional adviser is pretty much essential in our view.

Hi marie.

I believe that Kevin's firm does.

Shona and Mark seem to be "get in the car and travel to wherever they're needed" advisers!

I understand that Chris's firm have a network of advisers covering the whole country.

Thanks for all your help. I will be cancelling the appointment with credit fix me and will contact one of the other companies from this site to discuss my options. I do feel lot better after being on the forum and hopeful that something can be done to help our situation.

You have dodged a bullet by avoiding getting tied up to a company that promotes cold calling to tie you in!!!
