Hi I posted last week that the tenants insurance i took out when i moved into my rented house last month was cancelled by the insurance company (only reason they gave was i shouldn't have applied?), I presumed as it was a monthly direct debit and a credit search was performed.
Now that the holdays are over i have spent most of the day trying to get contents insurance with NO LUCK!!
I have received a letter today from the letting agent stating i am in breach of the agreement as i haven't kept up payments for insurance. I explained that circumstances and told them i would sort it today but i cannot seem to get any insurnce.
My friend has just finished her TD and gave me the company she has always used but even they said NO.
I am getting so frustrated now and can't beleive i cannot get any cover - any suggestions?

Hi jess73.

Could you just confirm exactly what this insurance is meant to cover? Is it just your contents?

How many insurance companies have you approached?

This hasn't ever presented such an issue for anyone writing in the forum before which makes me wonder whether the issue is connected to the trust deed. Have you ever had a claim turned down or disputed by an insurer in the past?

I wonder if other visitors/members who are in trust deeds could advise jess73 who their contents insurance is with please?

Hi TDA,
i've never had a problem with any house insurance before now. The insurance is called tenants insurance basically like contents insurance. I was wondering if the reason why i am being turned away is because a company cancelled my insurance?I've been on comparison websites that have all said no, tried endsleigh. I went onto policy expert who declined as well?Maybe i should call some companies rather than online?

OMG!! I finally got through to the insurance company and asked why my insurance had been cancelled to which i was told it hasn't been its the direct debit. I read out the 2 letters i received about how my policy was cancelled, explained that payments had already left my account and were being returned to me. After being traansfered to 3 different people i've been told my insurance hasn't been cancelled?? So no idea really whats going on watch this space!

Hi Jess73

So glad to hear it has all worked out, as I have never really experienced anyone having such difficulties with insurance. Shame the insurance company made you so worried, but hopefully that is it sorted now.

Shona is not currently posting in the Trust-Deed.co.uk forum.

I'm afraid this website doesn't exist for you to market your services Adam, which is why your email address, business name, and phone number has been removed.

A fair point Paul, but I'm not that sure anyone will be too tempted!

I especially like the "if there is anything more we can do to help" bit when they've apparently been totally uninvolved in the whole situation!!
