Hi everyone, this is a question aimed at anyone who has a TD with Wilson Andrews, or a member of this firm.
Myself and my husband receive a £100 cheque from my grandma for Christmas. I am wondering, will this go straight into the TD?just wondering if I can plan to use it or not!! I've asked my relationship manager but the Trustee has been in meetings...
Thank you!

As you say, only your trustee could really answer that question.

It would seem a bit over the top for a trustee to insist that a £100 cheque from a relative for Christmas be paid in for the benefit of creditors. I suppose under the law maybe it should, but in reality that kind of sum would surely be ignored.

Hi Nemo1,

I would agree with what Kevin said.

We would allow a degree of understanding and flexibility in a scenario like this.

Couldn't you just have it cashed elsewhere and not into your bank account to avoid the company knowing about it and avoid any issues?

Every end has a start !!

I think as it's a gift, the Trustee should have no interest in it.

I'd be surprised if they took any interest in it.

Hi again Nemo1

What a lovely gift to start Christmas with! Just to echo the comments above we would consider a gift of £100 to be reasonable and normal and would be happy to let you keep it.

Merry Christmas,

Thank you for everyone's replies 🙂 I definitely wouldn't be cashing it anywhere else as you need to declare all gifts.. I'm not going down the dishonest route, this is stressful enough!! So it looks like we have £50 each to spend... Yippeeee!! I think I'll wait to get that confirmed from my trustee but things sound positive 🙂

Well done on taking the keep it honest route. It shouldn't s problem but it's always worth an email to your case manager to keep you right. Enjoy spending the gift.

I think the question "aimed at anyone who has a TD with Wilson Andrews, or a member of this firm."...

has been answered by the post from Barry Stewart, a senior member of that firm - according to his signature.

So, I hope that Nemo has been out shopping - although I don't envy anyone who has been elbowing their way through the crowds on 'the busiest shopping day of the year'![:0]

I hope everyone has a great Christmas, when it gets here! [:D]
