Hi maverick267.

I'm sorry to hear that you find yourself in this position.

You should speak to your trust deed provider about the situation with the boiler to see if they can help in any way.

You'll also need to let your Trustee know about any bonus payment, which I'm sure will be dealt with in line with the original agreement that you entered into.

I'm afraid I'm unaware of any sources of emergency cash in connection to the boiler. Hopefully another member of the forum might have some ideas for you.

Hi maverick267

If you have a sympathetic trustee they may allow you to retain the full amount of the bonus for the moment to allow you to deal with your boiler, however you will be asked to pay back the agreed amount at the end of your Trust Deed.

Hi Maverick

I find this an unusual statement.

To confirm, your IP advised that they wanted you to sent 100% of the bonus?

If the tax was owed prior to signing the Trust Deed it will be a claim in the Trust Deed.

I wonder if one of our experts can explain how this will/should work?

HMRC are different from other creditors in that they can amend a tax code to collect money that was due from previous years.

However, if that liability relates to the period prior to a trust deed starting should it be dealt with in this way or be added as a claim in the trust deed?

If the liability relates to a period prior to the date of signing of the trust deed then they have no right to claim that back from you by amending your tax code, maverick267. I suggest you ask your trustee to contact them and confirm the position.
