Are the "specialists" on here actually insolvency
Practioners or sales people for their respective
Employers.
Are you qualified to give exact and full proof
information?

Martin

Hi Marty72.

Mark, Kevin, Shona and Chris are very experienced debt advisers and insolvency professionals. They work within regulated insolvency businesses. Each of their businesses has one or more insolvency practitioners that head up (and are responsible for) their respective operations.

Are they qualified to provide advice? Yes.

Will you accept that their advice is suitable for you? You'll have to decide.

Details of their backgrounds and extensive experience are on their profile pages.

Hi Marty72

I am a Partner of Philip Gill and have been involved in Insolvency for 27+ years. Our business is run by 2 Partners, myself and Sue Clay who takes the personal Trust Deed appointments.

In terms of meetings, we have qualified and senior staff, however I deal with all meetings personally and while this may not be ideal or practical, it is the way I have always operated. Any advice given on options and specific advice on individual matters is always discussed and then provided in writing in a clear precise signed letter.

Trust Deed paperwork will never be signed at a first meeting. That way there is no misunderstanding or unknowns and individuals have in their own time the ability to read through this and then make a decision.

Mark

I hope you find the profiles on the forum helpful. As you will see from them, i have been dealing with debt problems for 18 years, and like Mark, meet all my clients in person to give advice. Michael McGowan also works with me, and we both follow best practice. All options are covered, and only when you are happy with which option you want to take, is anything signed. Our job is to provide you with facts, so you can make an informed choice. I do not see myself as a sales person, more providing a service. The 'sales' people are generally the folk who phone you- rather than you phoning them! For them it is about numbers and not the service.......my opinion of course!

For my part, I have been involved in debt advice and insolvency for around 10 years. I am qualified to insolvency practitioner level for personal insolvency, though am not yet a fully fledged IP as there are corporate insolvency papers to sit also.
Would very much second what Shona is saying about salespeople - this job should never be about making a "sale", but about informing people of their options and then providing a good quality service if they decide they wish to proceed with one of the solutions through your firm.

How great is it to be able to ask the questions and get full and honest replies here!!

I might be wrong but I think most of us would stop short of being as direct in person? Yet, it is important to understand what the process /roles are upfront as problems seem to arise when the information hasn't been given / understood at the outset.

For my part I have been employed by Wylie & Bisset LLP for over 10 years and prior to that I was a Money Advisor for the Royal Navy for another 10 years. I have passed the Certificate of Proficiency in Insolvency whilst and Wylie & Bisset and whilst in the Royal Navy attended most training courses established by both Money Advice Scotland & The National Debtline (Birmingham Settlement). I have also obtained a HNC in Welfare Rights and Money Advice. I am not involved in Sales and all options would be considered and discussed with any client who refers to Wylie & Bisset.
