I work part time as a fitness instructor. I need to have a PPL to be able to play music in exercise classes. This is paid for anually, so I forgot to account for this in my expenditure form. I got the bill this month and because of that was unable to make trust deed contribution. I e-mailed KPMG and eventually got a reply saying that it was OK to miss this months payment but my trust deed would be extended because of this. Surely this is not right? I need this to be able to work so surely it should be included as acceptable expenditure?

Hi fcwalker

The key point to the Trust Deed is the proposal set out at the start. That is the terms the creditors agree to.

Sometimes its best not to look at the amount of months and look at the total figure agreed. As you say, you forgot about this expenditure, so an extension to collect the missed payment is pretty normal.

There was no total agreed! There was no monthly contribution agreed at start as I was not working. It has taken since June to agree a monthly contribution - mainly due to their incompetence

Try and see it from your creditors point of view, fcwalker. They have agreed to accept a trust deed proposal in good faith, so surely it is reasonable that they shouldn't be disadvantaged if an accommodation has to be made to correct an oversight on your part?
