Just a bit of advice for anyone looking to enter into a trust deed. Wilson Andrews I haven't had too many problems with but as for their banking group Think Money they are an absolute joke. Whenever u change something online they take it upon themselves to change ur budgeting which totally messes everything up. I have been on hold for 50 minutes trying to get through to them to sort it out. It's a disgrace. Can't wait until my TD is finished and can one day open another account which actually does it's job.
That's a shame Nemo1. Premium services like this that come with a fee really need to deliver in order to be worthwhile.
A couple of the team at Think/Wilson Andrews check into the site from time to time so they might be able to offer some thoughts in due course.
I'm RAGING. Used their call back service just to be put on hold AGAIN for 35 minutes. I pay them ยฃ21 a month? ยฃ21 a month to muck up my budgeting, duplicate direct debits and get put on hold for 1.5 hours?! I'm putting in a complaint to the appropriate authority. So as it stands tomorrow when my husbands wages go in they'll transfer a total of ยฃ53 to do us the week....
Hi Nemo1
Is it a requirement to use this account? I normally advise 2 or 3 different banks to try who do not charge a monthly fee and have had no issues yet.

hi Nemo1,
Perhaps it's time to look into alternative banks to use.
I've not known of any clients that haven't been able to open up a bank account with a high street bank. Sometimes they may need to try 2 or 3 of them but usually they are able to secure an account.
If you do change bank accounts let us know how you get on as I'm sure it will be useful information for others who need to change bank accounts.

Open an account with Barclays they have been very good with me. No issues even when you are in a TD
Hi kdog7
Barclays are certain one of the banks I advise people to go with as there appear to be limited issues with them.
I'm not sure bank accounts are as big an issue as previously in cases where the bank were not a creditor or associated to a creditor. I know they would check through the Edinburgh Gazette and cross reference any Trust Deed/Sequestration notice details against their own account information which would normally end up with the account being frozen. However since the information being transferred to the ROI, I think it's more difficult to have the individual details in front if you and can't remember the last time someone called to say their account had been frozen.
It also goes back to the post on savings accounts. If there's no exposure to the bank ( no overdraft etc) then you wonder what the problem is.

Some banks are just a bit funny Mark. I remember walking into a high street bank that begins with a C and stated my case and what I needed. Was spoke to like a bit of crap and basically turfed out " we don`t want your kind in here". Walked round the corner into Barclays and although they usually ask for appointment they seen me that day and account was opened. They were very pleasant and even gave me a cup of coffee while waiting. Couldn`t have asked for more in the middle of my panic.
I was thinking along the same lines as you Mark that I don't really have many clients that call me with a problem bank account but thought I would check with our Accountant in Bankruptcy Team who deal with approximately 150 new Sequestrations per month.
I've just checked with our communications team who deal with all enquiries from individuals who have been declared bankrupt under this contract and they advised that frozen bank accounts are still a massive problem for clients and told me the following:
- The RBS (Any one part of that group i.e. Nat West) and Bank of Scotland in the majority of situations (9 out of 10) will freeze a bank account regardless if you owe them money or not. They will do this as quick as 7 days after the Sequestration award.
- Nationwide, Clydesdale, Santander, Lloyds, TSB etc generally only freeze the bank account if there is an overdraft on the account.
- Barclays are one of the best to deal with and they rarely see a frozen account from them.
- The communications team on daily basis fax banks requesting an account to be unfrozen.
I guess it goes against what we both thought but I suspect that's because we have already told them to change bank accounts before proceeding with a Trust Deed/Sequestration so they don't encounter any problems.

Good point. Like most things in life, always best to take the belts and braces approach and have an 'emergency' account somewhere in the background just in case.
Accounts in my experience always get frozen on a Friday and in 25 years+ have never been unfrozen ( or defrosted!!) on the same day. So they have a whole weekend with no access to money.

Hi Nemo1,
Firstly I'd like to apologise for the wait times that you've experienced. We do appreciate that of late call wait times have been longer than you, and we, would like. We are working to reduce call wait times by recruiting and training new Money Managers and hope to see improvements going forward.
In the meantime there are a number of alternative ways to reach us that you may find beneficial. You can text us (DETAILS REMOVED) with CHANGE followed by any changes you need to make to your account (or to request a call). Of course, you can also manage your account round the clock via Online Account Management. This service enables you to do almost everything that you can do on the phone. You can also message us via Twitter (DETAILS REMOVED) and Facebook (DETAILS REMOVED)
Whilst having a thinkmoney Personal Account may help with budgeting, whilst in a Trust Deed, it is not a pre-requisite and optional to any customer should you wish to change provider.
Thank you
Ian Williams - a member of the team at Wilson Andrews
