Does anyone know what is happening regarding VAT refunds for IP fees etc from HMRC?? My trust deed is due to end soon(with RSM Tenon) and wondered if this was causing delays.

Hi plasticdaft.

There has been some uncertainty on this subject as a result of a VAT ruling affecting the VAT status of an IVA elsewhere in the UK.

Protected trust deeds seemed likely to be treated the same way, but there was a little confusion while that was being confirmed (which it has been now).

We haven't heard of delays with trust deed closure at RSM Tenon, and I'm sure Kevin who posts here (from RSM Tenon) will be able to provide some reassurance on the subject when he next visits the forum.

I only found out about the PTD being exempt through the iva forum that I am an expert on!! I looked at trust deed forums 4 years ago and ended up on an IVA one instead, the support is fantastic and whilst not always the same the differences between an IVA and a PTD are few in number.

I only stumbled across this place again yesterday, handy when my trust deed is due to end soon, but any knowledge that I have I shall gladly pass on!!

Hi Paul,

I know the IVA forum you mean and have read your posts on there in the past.

It's great to have you posting on here again as well.

I am not aware of any delays to case closures, Paul, so you should find there are no problems. When did you sign your trust deed? If it was before 1st April 2008 then it generally takes a little longer than for trust deeds signed after that date, as the process was simplified.

When is your trust deed due to end Paul? I had a quick look on our system but couldn't see anyone with your name due to be discharged over the next few months.

January Kevin. Thats when the last payment is due. My wife(she entered one too) had a letter regarding all claims being in and I contacted my case manager to ask where my letter was and she said they were awaiting a few outstanding claims and mine would arrive shortly.

Trustee's interest in car to be dealt with on mine and that should be it.
