G'day all! I said when I first contacted this fab forum, I would keep in touch with everybody, so here I am again! I have been reading all the problems that some people have with their finances and I really do feel very lucky! It's been over three months now since I had advice and help from this forum and I am just amazed at the contributors perseverance and sincerity! Mark, Shona and Kev, TDA (wee trooper that she is!) and Paul and Pamjo to name just a few who "rescued" me from the very edge and delivered me to where I am today, are still giving their time and expertise to those who are looking for answers, so all who ARE looking, don't go anywhere else! You've found the people who will guide and assist, believe me! As all on this forum who have read the few contributions I have made know, I DO have a tendency to ramble on and look at things perhaps in a more abstract fashion than possibly what I should be doing, but here's another point I would like to touch on!
We all refer, quite rightly, to the financial aspect of our problems, which let's face it, is what this is all mainly about. If I may, I would just like to mention the fact that from a health angle, things actually improve as well! After all the associated emotions that become a part of the TD process, I, after only three months have improved considerably from a health perspective! I was at my GP last week for a wee check up, just to see how I was keeping and low and behold, my blood pressure is down, my type 2 diabetes has improved (ie my glucose levels), I am enjoying some real, meaningful sleep for the first time in some years and I am now becoming interested once more in life! I informed my Doc about this forum and how it has helped me stay focussed when I was really down and he thinks it's a wonderful medium by which to air views and seek advice!!
So all my friends out there, things are looking great now. I won't go down the justification route of telling everyone I'm not well off, but you all know that anyhow: I am just much more relaxed now and strangely, don't feel too much guilt, as I feel I am at least contributing something to my creditors.
I guess I just wanted to "Check In" and say another heart felt Thanks to all my lovely advisors/supporters who have helped me and many others to come to terms with our very real and life changing situations.
I don't know where I would have been now had it not been for this outlet. I just don't want to go there!
Will talk soon all.....and thanks again!
Toby

Hi Toby

What a great post.

I'm pleased the financial side has improved, but more pleased that health and wellbeing are on the up as well.

Regards

Mark

Hi Mark!
Thank you and lovely to hear from you again!
I know you are pretty coy about the adulation angle! But, let's not beat about the bush Mark, it's down to this forum generally and YOU and your fabulous team in particular I am now where I am!
I know you won't thank me for over the top comments, but to me they're heartfelt and a hundred per cent accurate!! You are a wonderful practitioner and of course your colleagues are too!
So before I make you sick (ha ha!), I will just tell you a wee story....My son recently asked how things were with me and Mum. He has noticed a huge turnaround in how we are getting on with our lives these past few weeks. I explained about this forum, about how people had made me look at things differently. I was pleasantly surprised to see him reading some of the stuff on the forum one evening and he now has a fuller understanding why I refer to The Scottish Trust Deed Forum as a breath of fresh air! So you see Mark, yourself and your colleagues and fellow IP's and contributors have impacted not only on those such as myself who needed to ask for help, but also on people who now understand why there is a great need for sites like these and how it's easier to talk to relative strangers, rather than approach friends and family: THAT I could never have done! However, I DO feel I have a new group of friends and family and I will NEVER forget what they have done for me!!
I bet there are a lot of folks on here who are thinking along these lines, so to save them some embarrassment (I'm too old to be embarrassed!!)I am making this collective statement for them too!
Thanks again Mark and co. : I just dunno where I would have been today had I not struck up the courage to pen a few lines on here in January!
That's it ! No more gushing!
Regards
Toby

Hi Toby

Thanks for the kind words. They are very much appreciated.

I'm glad it's worked out. I do have a great team behind me and it's very much a team effort.

Kind regards

Mark

Hi Toby.

It's wonderful that you are feeling so well and so positive. Debt can have a horrible effect on peoples physical and mental health and wellbeing, so it's also great to be able to share your positivity with other readers who might not be feeling too good right now.

Dealing with the underlying cause of a problem can be so worthwhile once the courage to take the first step can be found.

Well Done Toby, your post is evidence of the shift you've had.

As you can see I'm still hanging around like a bad smell, one foot on a banana skin and the other on an escape hatch!!

Can't agree enough with you re. the difference it makes to have the opportunity to ask so many questions without appointments or embarrassment. I reckon I've actually learned most from folks posts relating to issues I would never even have known to ask about. It's so true a saying 'You don't know what you don't know@

Mark's been to see us and we have actually settled it in our minds that instead of being fearful of Bankruptcy, it will be the beginning of things getting better.

So pleased to read your post Toby - gave me a warm feeling inside, or it could be the whisky. Either way, good to hear.

Thanks Amy! As long as the readers can look at the bigger picture here and see that I'm not celebrating anything, rather just trying, with the help of your good selves, to get my life back!!
Pamjo!! You WILL get things back of track again, I'm certain. Just keep that fantastic sense of humour and you'll be ok !
Kevin, Kevin, Kevin....may I suggest a bit of both?!!! Ha Ha! Cheers Kevin........

That is wonderful news Toby and I hope you'll continue to stay on the site and support others with your positivity and motivation. You are a great success story and you may even enjoy the challenge of tight budgeting. The joy of finding a fantastic bargain in a charity shop is so much better than the "joy" of buying something you don't need on your credit card.

I wish you great luck on your journey through the tunnel - at least you know now that the light you can see is definitely sunlight and not the headlights of the train.

What great news Toby - and how wonderful that your son has noticed an improvement with yourself and wife - onwards and upwards!

It's amazing how much better you sleep when you know everything is settled.

Keep us posted!
