Well this is week two and all seems to be quiet so far.
Major setback last week with the CoOp deciding to close our accounts with them due to the TD (standard accounts and not cashminder accounts). Thankfully these were our back up accounts so a quick bit of apply by me and I now have a basic RBS account from me and my wife is opening up the cashminder basic account with CoOp.
Loads of calls over the weekend and loads more reminder / Demand letters.
MBNA were good enough to call 8 times on Sunday to ask about balances outstanding. 8 times They were told we are entering into a trust deed and the deed managers details given at RSM. I guess they just wanted to check this 7 times after I told them initialy. It was a similar picture for HSBC, Sainsburys and Balclaycard.
So I guess we will have to wait and see what happens this week. The first circulars were put out last week (on Monday) so fingers crossed they will be getting back to RSM this week with their claims. Our first TD payment also takes this Friday which is a big step forward for us. It means the end of this full period of our life's is one monthly payment closer!
Half way already!
I am sure that many other forum members will remember this stage well, colski - many find it to be the hardest part, so glad to hear that you are feeling optimistic despite the hassle!
Hi Kevin,
Its all about puting the brave face on things at present.
This week is a big week for my salary (first payment into my new account) and our first payment to the TD for each of us.
Is it normaly 5 weeks from the date the TD goes into the gazzet or is it 5 weeks from the date the circulars are sent that a TD normaly (all going well) becomes protected?
Half way already!
Fingers Crossed.
I always like to explain it to clients as drawing a line in the sand. Leave everything to do with the TD behind the line, bank accounts, creditors and everything on the new side of the line, new bank accounts, wages, contributions etc.
Protection is 5 weeks from date of published Edinburgh Gazette.

I like the idea of having an answering machine message that does all the talking for you. Options are:-
1) If you understood the statement about my trust deed, hang up and don't call back.
2) If you want to sell my debt to someone else, feel free it's a free country.
3) If you wish to waste the time of someone in a call centre, keep calling, I have the option to ignore you.
Ignore any numbers you don't recognise. If they leave a message, take a note of this and let your trustee know. It will stop, just not for a wee while yet. The next fun stage is all the letters. I'd invest in some A4 brown envelopes this week and once they start, bundle them up and send them to your trustee.
Nothing left to discharge - everything's done and dusted!
Where do I buy that Answer Machine and is it cheap (I'm in a trust deed after all!)
We have been getting letters almost daily now. Various different methods being used from severe threatening style to softly softly we want to help you style.
I'm just scanning and emailing them as I get them... I have a batch of 12 to do tonight.
Overall I'm not worried about the calls and the letters. They will stop once the TD becomes protected and this filters back to the creditors. I'm assuming (hoping) this will be in the next 2/3 or so months.
Half way already!
I'm actually thinking of patenting it. My design will have a number of options. You'll be able to select what type of arrangement you're in and if you want to upgrade, you can select the celebrity of your choice delivering the message with a variety of expletives.
Had I thought of this about 4 years ago, I might have been able to avoid the trust deed.
