I can't quite believe I'm actually writing this, it all seems like a dream I had many years ago.
After a mentally abusive relationship and the thieving of my money I found myself opting for a trust deed. I did a lot of research but it was the fantastic Kevin Mapstone and the guys at Tenon who gave me the courage to make the decision. I has been really hard work and at times I though I couldn't go on but have always wanted to do the right thing by my creditors within a scheme that helps you start again.
But nearly 4 years later and hearing not many good things about Apex who took over from Tenon I contacted them after the new year after giving them a while to get sorted. Right from the start they have been just amazing, especially Cheryl who explained everything and has been so patient, I have had my emails and calls answered promptly with understanding and knowledge, they made me feel like I mattered. I have been lucky enough to have family help and with my trustees consent have been able to finish my trust deed.
So here I am only 3 weeks later with my form 5 and discharge, contrary to many other tales of waiting years. It has been smooth and uneventful.
I am so grateful to Apex and Cheryl and indeed all who have helped get me to this point. A special mention to the fantastic trust deed assistant and also Mark Mcfadyen who have reassured me and made me smile on the days when the forum seemed the only place to go.
For anyone in despair and at any stage of the trust deed, if you treat people with honesty, integrity and in a way in which you want to be treated there are people like those at Apex who will help, advise and work for you. You can do it and it does work and eventually end!!
I am sooooo happy, so once again THANK YOU to all who have helped

That's brilliant Rachel.
It's always lovely to hear from someone for whom the process has worked just as it should, even if a couple of changes occurred along the way.
You sound elated! Is there a celebration planned?
Already underway ....wooooo
I just cant tell you how I feel, elated, pleased, satisfied and gald for my creditors.
I hope you read your bit, The time, effort, support and knowledge you give to this forum is just amazing, you have been around for all my 4 years doing this and I can't tell you how much I admire and am grateful for all you do.
Oh and do tell Mark as well, he's the man. I also hope Kevin sees this too.
But mostly Apex have been just amazing at what has been a big time of change for them.
So Cheers to you ...(chinks glasses and downs a VERY large vodka)

Hi Rach68
Great post. Glad it's all worked out and I can't believe how quickly the time's flown. Even I'm surprised at how quickly 3 years has passed.
From memory I had a brass neck moment during one of the posts!
All the very best for the future & the extra cash in your pocket.

Hi Rach68
Yes, of course in a good way.
Looking back at the posts I still can't believe the time has passed so quickly. Really pleased that it all worked out and the agreements at the start were the agreements at the end.

Hi Rach68,
Your posts made me smile reading them this morning after a sleepless night with a new baby! It's such an encouraging and positive post for people to read who are financially struggling and may be considering a Trust Deed. I can really feel your sense of relief and happiness that you've reached this point and are now debt free. Well done!
I think for advisors our aim is to try and find a balance between helping someone become debt free and also allowing them to pay back an affordable amount which the creditors are going to be happy with. After 10 years of doing this I still enjoy making contact with a client to advise them that they have successfully completed their Trust Deed and that they can now cancel their standing order!
Best wishes for the future and I hope the head isn't too sore after some celebratory drinks last night!

That's brilliant news Rachel. I remember our meeting well - is it really that long ago?? To think of how you were feeling then and how you sound now is very rewarding, I'm very glad I could be of some help in the process.
All the best for the future.
