It is a year since I have been discharged from my trust dead and checking my Noodle account I still have defaults on 3 accounts. surely they should all be satisfied by now. I have contacted my broker and they assured me that all the creditors were notified of my discharge and should all be cleared. what can I do so resolve this as it is holding me back getting my credit rating back up.
Thanks

Hi Luckysnoop.

You'll need to contact each of the creditors and require them to update their reporting.

Hi Luckysnoop,

Even although you have been discharged and your creditors notified of this it doesn't mean that they will update your credit file to reflect this.

It's going to take a little bit of work from you to have your credit file updated and accurate.

I would suggest contacting each creditor to provide them with a copy of your discharge certificate and ask that they update their record on your credit file.

Have a browse on the forum as there is a lot of useful information regarding this and how to go about it. Have a look at the recent topic ÔÇ£how defaults show on fileÔÇØ for a template letter you can use.

It makes absolutely no difference if the defaults are marked satisfied or not. The important point is the default dates should be around the start of the TD date. The defaults will drop off 6 years after their start date.

I'd say both things are important.

Well I have sent a load of paperwork away to all the one I need to so I will have to wait and see what happens, I did just have to email one of them and they came back to me and said that they have now updated my files so fingers crossed for the rest to do the same.

Some creditors are more helpful and seem to take it more seriously than others. I've had some update my files accurately by themselves, others needed a gentle "reminder" and some have even required me to raise a complaint with the Information Commissioner.

Make sure that you check all your files. I found some creditors updated defaults accurately on one but missed updating another file.

I have that experience too Mapleaf. Showing as September with Experian and November with Equifax - same creditor and account.
Despite further calls to them, and promises to change, they have not. RBS surprise surprise. I had the most problems with them all along.

Just got letters from some of the of the people that I send letters to.
They cam back with "the account will be changed to partially satisfied and will remain on file for 6 years".
why partially satisfied when the account is now finished?

The Information Commissioner told us that "partially satisfied" is an appropriate update Luckysnoop.

It reflects that the debt no longer exists, but also that it wasn't fully repaid

Hi LuckySnoop

Remember to check the dates they have entered as default.
It should be the same as the Trust Deed date or closely thereafter.
The six years starts from then.

How did you get on with RBS and who did you contact. They pass me about from pillar to post and I still haven't spoke to the relevant person.

Update, I have received a few letters saying that my accounts will be changed to settled, I am just waiting on one more and then that should be it.
I have checked my credit score and it has jumped up a bit already because of this so I can't wait to clear all the accounts.
