If you make any financial decisions jointly-I assume you do if you chose to bank jointly-this will be really difficult for you for 6 weeks never mind 6 years?

Do you need to keep this from your partner?

If it's difficult to discuss, it will be so much more so with the awareness that you've not been upfront.

I understand wanting to protect your partner from worry but you will constantly feel the pressure and worry about being 'found out'

Hi mrsstressed

Like Kevin, I have always thought that most debt stays on your file for 6 years. I know it is longer for creditors who have have a decree or debts to the Crown, where I think it is 15 years. I will double check !
If I was you, I would not have a joint account, as this can cause problems for your husband because it will link your credit files.

Thanks Shona,

I will remove my name from the account. Can I still stay with the same bank for my single account as we have for the joint account?

Thanks

Hi Shona

I don't think Mrsstressed is being totally upfront. See the postings under scotgirl, she appeared to forget who she was for a while!
