I don't think threatening legal action is going to do any company any favours.
Surely all they have to do is either put their side across or ask for any post they can prove to be defamatory removed?
I'm pretty sure until the second one has been done, and with a viable time limit attached, then legal action would not get them very far any way.
This whole thing has been quite unpleasant. We have a thread that ended up down the road of a slanging match and then veiled threats of legal action. For the most part, this forum has been nothing but supportive. Even when people have popped on to say they've had poor treatment from the company they're with, quite often someone from that company will appear and have a go at fixing the issue - sometimes all that's needed is better explanation and a bit of clarification. From that point of view, it's good to have reps of the IP's lurking in the background. There's a lot of humour in the forum cause lord knows, things are crap when in a trust deed and we all need a laugh. With the exception for the last few days, it's been a thoroughly pleasant and supportive forum.
I don't think the forum has anything to be ashamed of. Neither do the moderators. This whole thing has been dealt with in a very discreet way and quickly as well. You'll never stop people going on a public forum and acting up. It's possibly behaviour they can't express in real life. That shouldn't change the amazing and supportive enviroment that has been established here before all this crap kicked off. Read through the topics. Look at the help that's been given. I'll never understand the need of some people to play silly buggers in places like this, especially if they're in the industry. I like it here. I don't feel like an idiot for my financial position.
Keep up the good work and long may it continue. I'm now off to eat an entire batch of yummy, home made, lemon shortbread.[:D]
Nothing left to discharge - everything's done and dusted!

Rest assured that they'll have read that candlewick!
I'm sure that they have [:D]
But nothing has been amended on the website. Maybe they haven't had time to do it (which is fair enough - although you'd think they'd be considering their reputation).
Maybe they're still trying to figure out which bits are wrong (which would be worrying).
Maybe it's something else entirely.
It's disappointing to learn that someone may have posted here with an underlying agenda.
However, that doesn't mean that everything which was said by that person, or on that thread, was incorrect.
I'm still disturbed by the fact that there were a number of robustly defensive posts from a poster who has the same name as the Director of the company in question.
How do I know that? Not because it was declared openly on the forum. It only becomes apparent if you check the 'user' details for this forum, and then google.
It may be that said user is running a complicated double-bluff.
I've always been impressed by company representatives who post on here, when their company has been criticised, and state openly "Hi,I'm so and so, part of the team at Company X", before addressing the specific issue.
However, I don't really think that it is 'open' enough for a company representative to post in defence of their company without stating, in their opening post, who they are. I don't think that it's enough to say "My name is in my profile" or "If you click on the link to send me an email, you can see who I am, and where I work".

The entire batch? All by yourself?
You know that there's help available, if you need it, don't you? [:p]
All (half) joking about yummy shortbread aside, that was a great post, gillian!

(Help to eat the shortbread! Sorry, the original message sounded a bit rude [:I])

Well, that was meant to be an edit, not another reply [:D][:I].
This is how I feel right now - [:o)]
Yes, I ate the entire batch. I'd had a long day at work and they just seemed very easy to eat, still being warm and whilst watching Arrow on telly.
There's no help for me when it comes to biscuits. I've accepted my problem and do my best to make it through on a daily basis. I'm always happy to share though. I made another batch and brought them to work.

Hi Gillian
A whole batch? You need to log on to Just-Greed.co.uk. Boom Boom!
Put me in the mood now, although my wife doesn't have biscuits in the house. Apparently they keep going out of date very quickly and binned!!

We have been running a cake baking week in our office to raise money for Red Nose Day. Every morning this week a fresh batch of cakes have been made and brought into our canteen area for people.
I think after reading Gillian's post this morning I'll head up and pick some marmalade cake with a tea to go with it!
Good way to start a Friday morning!

I'm not really a sweet man myself - give me a bag of prawn cocktail crisps over a slice of cake any day.
Unfortunately just as fattening - why is it that all the nice things are?
