Hi there

Just wondering what the ususal timeline is for a Trustee to discharge themselves? I only have until March next year before mine should be completed (Yay [:p]!!) It's been a long, hard, teach-me-a-proper-lesson time and I am just keen for it to finally be over with.

I have emailed Tenon twice in the last two weeks to ask how much I have left to pay in my TD as due to family illness I missed a few payments at the beginning. No answer as yet. Up until now I have had no problems with Tenon and will probably phone them to find out. However, I am getting seriously worried as looking at plasticdaft's info - his has taken 11 months so far and counting. We are in the same boat as plasticdaft in that we did not have any ppi on any of our cards or loans, so would have thought that it should have been a straightforward discharge, but maybe not. Has anyone else recently been discharged from Tenon and can they tell me how long it took for this to happen?

Hello smoothoperator.

Kevin may visit the forum later to add some information. I do think it's worth giving them a call though, hopefully you can get an answer there and then.

I think plasticdaft has been discharged from his trust deed quite some time ago but the trustee has remained in office while the PPI stuff is completed at their end.

Hi TDA and thanks

I am sure that I will get discharged pretty quickly, but my question relates more to when the Trustee discharges himself, as 11 months to me, seems a bit excessive for things to be dragging on .....

I do understand the concern smoothoperator.

If you have a read of this article it may help to explain why it shouldn't make much difference to you if your trustee does remain in office for a period:

I am still waiting on my trustee discharging himself. Does seem to take rather a long time!! But as tda says it doesn't really matter but it's another tick in the box to complete things!

Hi folks - have been out all day so sorry for the late reply.

I've not been personally involved in managing plasticdaft's case, so am not sure of the ins and outs. As has been said, he was discharged very quickly after making his last payment, which is the most important thing. This is in contrast to some other firms who are refusing to discharge people until PPi has been investigated/reclaimed.

I have a feeling that the we had only just been instructed to look into the whole PPI reclaim side of things at the time, as had many other IP firms, so there have been some largely unavoidable delays in tying things up for ourselves, with so many claims being investigated and made all at the same time.

I believe our discharge from plasticdaft's case is very close now however.

I know that everything seems on track for my trustees discharge and Nicola(my poInt of contact at rsm tenon)has kept me well informed by email every step of the way. Communication throughout our trust deed has been fantastic, and many firms could make life in a trust deed easier for people just by talking to them!!
