Hi everyone, received my form 6 today in the post from the company who has dealt with my trust deed. Great news, but I'm not sure what this means for me?!
Is that it all over?! Or do I need to do something else?

Where do I go from here in terms of re-building credit and ensuring all debts are taken care of?

I applied for and was successful in getting a credit card (vanquis) a few months ago and have been making a small purchase each month on it and paying it off in full. I also have a mobile phone contract and pay various direct debits/standing orders each month- hopefully helping to contribute to my (destroyed) credit score?

Do I need to send a copy of this form to any of the companies who were in the trust deed?

Also, I should probably add that I have not received a "form 5" , which from reading threads on here, I think perhaps I should have?

Hi Debtfree

Glad to hear that you are at the end of your Trust Deed. Form 6 that you received is your copy that the Trustee would send off to the creditors asking for you and them to be discharged. They have 14 days to reply and if they don't they deemed to have excepted. You will then receive your form 5.

hope this helps

Hi Debtfree

The Form 6 is solely the Trustee's discharge and has no bearing on your own position.

You should have received Form 5 prior to the Trustee issuing Form 6.

If you follow the steps, you receive your discharge by way of Form 5, this is recorded by the AIB in the Register of Insolvencies. Once registered then your discharge is final. The Trustee then seeks his discharge by issuing Form 6 and after the expiry of 14 days, the creditors will heve deemed to agree to the discharge of the Trustee.

If the Trustee was to do this the other way about, he would be discharged after 14 days and would not be in a position to seek your discharge as he would no longer be Trustee.

You should contact your Trustee and seek your Form 5 ASAP.

I have just had a look on the AIB register of insolvencies and I am listed as discharged as of the 8th of this month.
I have also left a message with the company responsible for my TD to say I have not received my form 5 yet.
Not sure how I can be listed as discharged if I have not yet signed form 5 etc?

I have also just noticed that my birthdate is wrong on the AIB register- do I need to contact someone to correct this info? (everything else is correct)
If so, who should I contact?

Hi debtfree13

It's either not been sent ( which it should have been ) or has been lost in the post.

You should be able to get a copy, although the important part is the fact it is registered.

Hi debtfree13.

Congratulations to you on reaching the end of the process. That's no small achievement.

If there's an error on the register that you want corrected then it would be best to contact the Accountant in Bankruptcy I'd have thought.

Thanks to everyone for the replies.
Have contacted the AIB re the mistake in listing and it has been corrected overnight.
Just need to get my form 5 and then I guess its all done and dusted!

Hi debtfree13

I meant to say, there is no need for you to sign the Form 5. This is standard form signed by the Trustee.

Quick update on this- I now have both the form 5 and 6!
Should I be doing anything else now, or is it just a case of waiting a month or two then checking credit reports etc to check updates have been carried out?

Hi debtfree13.

If improving your credit record is important to you I'd give it a few weeks then see what's on your file and whether anything should be updated.

You may also wish to consider making some use of credit to build up some positive credit history again. This isn't without risk though and will not be for everyone.

I have had a Vanquis card for 3 or 4 months now and have been buying something small on it each month and repaying in full, so hopefully that will help a little.
I have had various direct debits and mobile contract running through out the TD also, all always paid on time- not sure if this will make any odds to my credit score?

Mobile contracts tend to be listed on credit files so thats good. Our direct debit payment to scottish gas also gets listed.
It really is a case of waiting, as long as any of your old defaults are correctly dated (they shouldnt be dated much later if any than the date your td got protected). Any dates that are wrong need changing which you can do by contacting the creditor in question.
