Hi kick8eee!
Regardless of which option you choose, you should be left with some money for incidentals/extras. As Kevin said, you really need to sit down with someone face to face, and go over all the options, as there are a few. The idea is not for a trustee to be like 'big brother' but allow you to become in control of your finances again. There is also no needed for your mum to know about any of this. You have just taken the hardest step but confronting the problem [:)]

The process of assessing and reviewing your contributions in a trust deed is probably a lot less restrictive than you imagine, kkk8eee.

There is a budget worked out at the start, which should include reasonable allowances for any of the miscellaneous things that we all pay out for. This would then form the basis for a review occasionally to take account of any changes (annually or six-monthly most commonly). As Shona says, there is no Big Brother looking over your shoulder totting up everything you spend your money on.

thank you 🙂 I am weighing up the options and was actually able to vocally voice things to a dear friend of mine...If I have more questions, which I definitely will have-I will post them here. Actually making a list of questions and pros and cons ...thanks again. Going to research some fae to face companies and see what they have to say. I just need to sort it. Thanks 🙂

Best of luck Kkk8eee - contrary to the impression you might get from reading some of the threads on this forum, there are plenty of good insolvency firm out there that should be able to help you!

Most trust deed firms (including all of those that answer questions here) are available for face-to-face meetings and very happy to organise them. Don't settle for less if that's what you want.

Hi thanks for replying. I've just had another letter from Westcott. The total is no where as bad as I feared. Should I pay them? or how do you go about this, as I am in a position to be able to pay at least half in one go.

How much doe you owe to Wescot?

Do you now think your total debts are lower than you thought before?

they sent a letter demanding 1700.However they are acting on "behalf of" Arden Credit management, who I have never heard of, and when I googled Arden, it comes up as a "non trading company". So, this begs the question..to whom to I pay what I owe? As far as i can see, I have no agreement with Westcot nor this non trading company.....

I believe that Arden are also a debt collection company or debt purchaser.

Do you know who the original lender was? Either of these companies should be able to tell you if not.
