I recently had my Trust Deed protected and my first payment has left my account. I was previously with Royal Bank of Scotland but moved my account to Cooperative Bank as RBS are one of my creditors. I was advised that eventually this account would be frozen. To complicate things my wife had a seperate business account with RBS which she has continued to use. On checking online banking today the joint account with RBS has been frozen which I was expecting but unfortunately my wifes business account has also been frozen with ยฃ135 in the account. Has she lost this money because her business account was also with the RBS and will they just put this money to the amount we owe them. I thought business accounts were seperate
Hi Phil
Is the business account just in your wife's name?
I don't see them having right of set off on an account not in your name.

Business Account is in my wifes name only but she has also signed a trust deed.
Hello again Phil.
If your wife is a sole trader (rather than running a limited company) and she has signed a trust deed I'm afraid I'm not surprised that the account has been frozen. A sole traders business bank account is really no different to their personal account.
Speak to your trustee about this as they may be able to help.
