A few weeks ago, I received a letter from my trustee, saying that they were obliged to attempt to recover any missold PPI, and were passing my info on to a third party to work on their behalf.
I am not particularly happy about this, as I do not believe I have ever been missold PPI. However, I understand that it is their duty and as such I'll happily do whatever is requested of me.
At no point has this third party contacted me for any reason, let alone to enquire about my PPI.
Yet today, I was contacted by a bank to acknowledge that I was making a complaint against them for being missold PPI.
Surely this is all wrong?
I'm now dreading the next few weeks as I will doubtless get snowed under with mail from my numerous creditors
My personal opinion... I find it hard to understand how a PPI claim could be made without first discussing the circumstances with the person that purchased it.
Don't worry about any post related to this amorphous. Just post it on to your trustee or claims firm to deal with it. At least any such paperwork may keep you informed about what is being done and how things are progressing.
We got our 1st call from slater hayward law working for RSM Tenon last week to say they had been appointed to look into missold ppi on our accounts(RSM Tenon told us they were doing this back in february). My wife told the lady on the phone we dont have any ppi and never did have and she said ah ok we wont bother you again!!! My trustee has held up his discharge because of all of this and I was told several months ago he would be discharging himself in august to allow slater hayward time to investigate. To say I am getting a little bit miffed at how long this has dragged on and the conduct of slater hayward law throughout the whole thing would be an understatement and I intend to complain to the regulator if the trustee's discharge is delayed any longer than previously stated.
I just want to move on!!

So my got my first PPI claim questionaire came through today.
I am utterly clueless about what to fill in - I no longer have any paperwork.
I don't know how much the loan was for, when I took it out, what I said I took it out for, what the policy number is, how I was sold the loan etc.
Best of all...
'Tell us about your Complaint' - em, I don't have one.
'Tell us now why you are unhappy with the insurance' - em, I'm not!
Sadly, my finances were so bad towards the end, I had 9 major creditors...so it looks like all my spare time will be spent trying to fill out these forms.
If you just fill out what you can, the PPI firms can request a copy of the original agreements, rather than you spending weeks doing this. They take a cut of the PPI refunded, so it's only fair they do some of the work!

Agree totally with Shona's comments that the PPI firm is being paid from the refunds so they should work for the money.

More claims forms through today ๐
I really want to talk with somebody from the PPI company, yet it seems impossible to make contact.
I'm really annoyed that they have decided that I was missold PPI without even bothering to speak with me, and proceeded accordingly.
I'm still strongly of the opinion that I was not missold, and it will be interesting to see what the PPI company will do.....try to make me lie, or tell my trustee I have been uncooperative?
Hi amorphous.
Just tell them the truth. That cannot be considered to be uncooperative by any reasonable person.
You're well entitled to ask on what basis any claim has been made.
There must be a reason they allege that the PPI was missold I would have thought, unless they're assuming the lenders will cave in without an argument (and some of them might well do that).
Actually getting really angry about this situation now....
Been unable to contact the PPI third party, my TDC have promised to get them to contact me - they still haven't.
What is distressing is that I am living with my elderly father who shares the same first name...he therefore assumes its his mail and opens it - he doesn't really understand what is going on, and to say he is worried is an understatement!
I have now received 4 letters from 4 seperate creditors - all opened in error by my dad as they were not addressed to me in my full name.
He thinks I'm back to getting chased by debt recovery agencies.
I live in dread of the postman coming every day now, to see exactly what personal financial details my dad will read next.
This feels even worse than my pre-trust deed days.
If the PPI company had bothered to contact me before starting any of this, then it would have saved me and my family a lot of distress.
A 2 minute courtesy call is all it would have taken.
