Yes they can,I suggest contacting your trustee to get advice on what to do with the cheque.

I assume the delay is because of ppi issues?

yes they said they are waiting on replies from 2 of my creditors about ppi claims, and cant finalise discharge until they here from them. i would have thought there would have been a timescale on how long they wait for a reply.a year and half is a very long time i feel, i would like to open a bank account but bank wont do this without discharge letter,

Hi lulibet1.

It seems very unfair that your discharge has been held up for so long.

In terms of a bank account, there are banks who will give you an account even if you have not been discharged.

Have you got an account now?

Hi there.

Have you tried Co-op Cashminder, or the Barclays basic account?

I'd suggest asking your Trustee what to do about the cheque.

I can recommend the co op cashminder account. I like mine as it does what my old tsb account does without costing me ยฃ7 a month!!

Hi

You should still be ableto get an account. As suggested, try Barclays or Co-operative. i think you should contact your Trustee, but as it has been received before your discharge, i think it will be classed as an asset, and therefore go to your Trustee. I am surprised that it didn't go to the Trustee since it was the Trustee who applied for it??
