I received a letter two weeks a go which stated my trustee would seek their, and my, discharge on 7th September if no objections were received from creditors within the two week period.

I've heard nothing ร”ร‡รด am I to assume as from tomorrow I am debt free?! And do I receive an official letter of discharge at all?

Hi tinsoldier.

You should receive some confirmation of your discharge from the trust deed and I'd suggest you make a call to request this and ask when it might be forthcoming.

It sounds as though everything is just a formality at this point (we've never has a thread on the forum saying that the creditors objected to the discharge) but I think it's best to wait to get some kind of confirmation to be absolutely 100% certain that everything has come to an end.

Just a thought - i was approved for a credit card two weeks ago - would the creditors somehow know this and object on those grounds?!

Hi tinsoldier.

They'll have no interest in that subject at all. It makes no difference to them in terms of you having met your obligations to the trust deed.

As trust deed assistant says, it is a formality. You should get written confirmation through.

Just spoke to my TD company - letter of discharge will be with me by Friday.

It's really over!

Good for you tinsoldier. It's really good to hear that your trust deed firm is sticking to the timeline they suggested as well.

Will there be a celebration?

I'm really glad to hear you'll be around from time to time tinsoldier. We often hear from visitors that reading information posted by others at different stages of dealing with debts and trust deeds is incredibly valuable to them.

Your other thread this afternoon is a perfect case in point; your insight into your personal experience of working through the trust deed process will be of great interest to other readers who are at the early stages of deciding how to proceed with their own situations.

These posts always make me smile because I'm getting closer to that discharge letter myself. Hope you treat yourself a little after scrimping for the last 3 years. I have so many plans of what to do with my contributions when I can cancel my direct debit. Top of that list is saving - something I've never done.

Congrats and do a victory lap of the living room when the letter drops in[:)]

Nothing left to discharge - everything's done and dusted!
