Since my TD started in the summer, it's been a nightmare. I live in a remote area, and the cost of living is very high.
In my budget there are things I'm supposed to put money aside for every month, I haven't managed this yet.
I'm a single parent, with a teenage son living at home. Looking at my budget, there were certain allowances that were lowered to less than what I actually pay, therefore need to find the money out of the other allowances. My budget for food/toiletries/cleaning and household products is £252/month, equivalent of £58 per week. Is this right? Every week I go to the supermarket and everything has gone up, and up again. I don't know how I'm supposed to feed us and get everything else we need on that every week. My son is 16, how can this allowance be enough for 2 adults?
Please advise.

Hi saabrina.
In terms of things like your food budget, it's really down to what you agreed at the start with your trust deed provider was reasonable.
If you're struggling to manage, especially if some costs have increased, you may wish to contact the trust deed firm to ask them to take a fresh look at the situation.
What were the areas where you entered less than you actually pay on the budget form?
Hi TDA,
I never had a meeting with anyone. It was done initially through Trust Deed Scotland.net, It was then passed to my trustee. I was asked how much I spent on certain things, and was told how much of an allowance I would be given. Then I received paperwork through from trustee. I had to ask for a copy of all the documents and the expenditure budget that had been sent to the creditors, as this wasn't provided. When I received it certain amounts had been moved about. For example, my electricity was £122/month, and in the winter I use a gas fire which costs approx £30/month for 5-6 months of the year. On the expenditure that was sent to creditors, it showed £60 for gas £60 for electricity, no extra allowed for just now, so I can't afford gas. Electricity company tried to put my payments up to £200/month from January, I got them down to £140 ... but I don't know where it's supposed to come from.
Is it possible that I was given an allowance for a child and an adult as my son was then 15, although eats like an adult obviously. I just can't see how £8.28 a day is enough for 2 people for food and all household items.

I'd suggest you discuss this with your trustee saabrina. Maybe your trust deed could be adjusted to make your budget a little easier - though you may be required to pay for a longer period to compensate.
A realistic budget at the outset is essential. Do not sign up to something that is doomed to failure from the start because an introducer wants to fudge the figures to make a trust deed viable as an option.
This is one of the most important parts of setting up the trust deed, ensuring that clients understand the budget.
Saabrina get on the phone to your trust deed firm and ask them to review your income and expenditure and as Kevin says you may find they can relax things a little if you are willing to extend your payments for a few months.
