Hi,
I've only started researching Trust Deeds, the implications, reputable companies etc. IÔÇÖve figured out that IP professionals from the ÔÇÿstarredÔÇÖ companies are the contributing experts. So, how do I decide which of these companies are the ÔÇÿbestÔÇÖ or who to approach and request help from?
Has anyone used or have any experience of (link removed). They claim to be a kind of Trust Deed 'comparison site' and maybe are the answer to my complete confusion over Trust Deeds and all the companies on offer? Any thoughts?
Also, I believe I was credit checked as I needed basic security clearance for my current job. IÔÇÖm looking to move roles and SC clearance (and credit check) will probably be repeated. Are you aware of Trust Deeds affecting SC applications?

Hi sinking fast

I've never came across the other site mentioned, but had a quick check and am not particularly impressed. They are a feeder company who will no doubt be paid by the IP they are tied to. I quickly tried their quote system, the information I put in made me very solvent and surprise surprise, I was advised that I would write off 90% of my debt. Sorry, but based on the info I provided, I can't.

The best advice I can offer is to contact a licenced insolvency practitioner direct, not through a 'Save ?ú?ú?ú?ú?ú?ú?ú?ú?ú's' type company. Once you have made your choice, you need to ensure that you have a meeting with the IP or senior staff to discuss ALL options. Nothing should be signed at that initial meeting. Thereafter, ensure you have all matters fully confirmed in writing before deciding anything. In particular, the position re any equity, car etc. That way you will have a clear plan as to how things will progress.

Re the security clearance, I don't think there is a definitive answer as it depends on the nature of the job and the employers requirements. That said however, I've dealt with police officers, people in the forces, IFA's etc and it has never been an issue.

Hope this helps

Mark

Thanks kindly for the prompt reply. Regarding work, I am in IT but the end customer were/are govt agencies and MOD etc, hence the SC clearance. On the other site, I tend to agree with you as you know what they say.. "if it loooks to good.." I plan to spend some more time on this site, just to get my facts right, and will then decide if TD is right option for me. Thanks again.

On the subject of whether a trust deed would affect potential job moves, as Mark says usually it doesn't. However, if they do a credit check then they will be aware of the trust deed as it will show on there, so there is always a chance it may affect things. Most employers don't do credit checks for jobs, so if they do I guess there must be a reason for them doing so...
