Hi
No question but I often pop on the forum and have a look at whats being talked about. I want to share my story for anyone visiting this forum considering trust deeds.
Coming up for 7months ago my husband and myself were made bankrupt after our trust deed did not become protected. It was very hard to deal with at the time and 7months on the future is looking a lot brighter.
We still have monthly payments the same as a trust deed.
Learning to live within our means and budgeting as been hard. We don't have luxury things like sky tv, gym memberships, fancy cars and new clothes but we have the important things good health, family and friends. We live in a small flat with our 3 kids but we are happy. We are happy because we are no longer living with worry of debt and can now plan a bright future for our children and ourselves.
Life isn't easy but we must all remember that the lesson of debt is a hard one to learn and after over 10years of debt I can only see things that have happened as a positive.
Month on month we are budgeting better and spending wiser. I feel that this is part of the process. I never want to get into the same position we were in before.

Hi Jayne
Thanks for the post.
It is always good to get positive feedback and it shows that if Trust Deeds are operated correctly, they can provide a regulated proper solution.
I always say at meetings that one of the most important parts is having a definite date when it will start and when it will finish and knowing that when its done, it's done.

Hello jayne9989.
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience. I do remember how worried you were only a few months ago and it's great to see that things have got better for you.
Even though the vast majority of trust deeds do become protected, your story does illustrate that for many people, even if the unexpected were to happen, the results are not necessarily any different to those expected had trust deed protection been achieved.
