Hi

I have recently taken the steps to file a trust deed with a company called SimplyFinancialSolutions who have passed my details to Knightsbridge Insolvency Services Ltd. I'm feeling a bit out of my depth and concerned I'm not dealing with the best company at a time I want to make sure everything is spot on.

Has anyone had dealings with Knightbridge? How did it go? Is there a better recommendation?

Another question is the adviser from Simplyfinancialsolutions told me I would have no problems renting while in a trust deed as credit checks are done to confirm identity not credit history. However a friend who took out a trust deed has told me this is untrue and I would need to look at private letting from now on. Can anyone comment on this?

Thanks

Hi Adam

Firstly the comment about renting not being a problem is inaccurate. If you saerch throught the forum, there have been a number of posts on the subject.

The company will carry out a credit check which will relate to both your identity and your credit history.

Hi Adam202,

I am with Knightsbridge, not long paid my 2nd payment to them. My budget is very fair and although I have had no issues with them, I wish I had set up TD with one of the guys on this forum as they are great with advice etc. and good at putting your mind at rest.

Hi Adam202,

Welcome to the forum and well done for taking positive steps to deal with your financial difficulties which for some people can be the hardest step.

At the moment Trust Deed's last for a 3 year period. On the 28th November this year the minimum period will increase to a 4 year period. This is something to keep in mind when discussing your situation with any other firm. How long have SFS and Knightsbridge said that your Trust Deed would last for?

I think that when discussing such an important part of your life you want to sit down with the actual advisor who will handle your case from start to finish. That way you get to build a relationship up with them instead of doing everything over the telephone. You should also have discussions on what other options you may have available to you for example a Debt Arrangement Scheme or Sequestration.

As Mark has said renting a property could potentially be a problem if you enter into a Trust Deed. You will need to balance up the need to deal with your debts along with the potential problem of being able to rent a particular property. I don't think you will have an issue and never be able to rent a property but it could be the case that you could experience problems renting a particular property depending on what checks they carry out. With a large deposit and a guarantor this may assist you in renting.

The most important thing when looking a Trust Deed is to have everything set out in writing before you sign anything.

Can you give us an idea of your debts and what your feel you could pay towards a Trust Deed?

The best advice is always to sit down and look at all options and then decide what option best suits your own individual circumstances.

I normally advise people to write down a huge amount of questions before any meeting and then ensure that everything discussed and agreed is put in writing before doing anything. That way there are no grey areas or unknown and you then are left in your own time to decide what best suits.

Hi Adam202

To be honest, once the basic information is known, it's easy enough to cover all matters. The key thing is getting everything confirmed in writing and then you can decide what's best.

Hi Adam,

Marks advice is good about a big list of questions. A good advisor should answer most of the questions you have written down before you even have to ask the questions. A lot of the time I'll meet with a client who has a list of questions and by the end of the meeting when I ask if they have any questions they look at their list and I've pretty much covered it.

Good luck with things and let us know how you get on.

Hi All , I have also started a Trust deed with knightsbridge. I was passed on to them through trust deed scotland. Found the whole thing very stressful and there was so little communication. When i fisrt called Trust deed scotland they said we could call a set person with any queries throughout our trust deed and no point did they say we would be sent to a different company (knightsbridge) we went ages without communication I kept calling at first they couldnt even find us on the system. started process in Feb only just got protected in august very stressful time.

Does anyone know what they require on each anniversary date? is there hidden charges?

Have very little info.

Thanks in advance
