Finally after three years and only one week after my final payment, I have taken delivery of my form 5 !
I well remember as my td was getting set up, the phone calls and letters from creditors stressing me out bigtime.
Looking back to those dark days to some of the calls in particular, most were understanding but a couple in particular were so nasty that they would make you feel so worthless and like some kind of criminal.
However as time went on, they became less and less, until they dried up completely and I began life in a trust deed which through time it was easy to forget you were actually in !
This last three years have flown by, and helped no end by this site. It is so therapeutic to be able to ask a question on here, no matter how trivial you think it may be, and be answered almost immediately by an expert or fellow member who has been there before with problems similar to myself.
So let me just say a big thankyou to Mark, Kevin, TDA, and all the other experts and members who have answered my posts on here over the last three years, and to anyone else who is just starting out on their td, stick in and don't be afraid to ask for advice no matter how silly you think your question is. There is no such thing on here, just helpful advice from people in the same position and experts who are more than willing to help.
I will continue on here and hopefully add my own tuppence worth now and again if I think I can be of help, but in the meantime, let me close this post with a question.
The letter accompanying the form 5 says that my actual date of discharge is the date that is recorded in the Register of Insolvencies and I will be notified when this has been confirmed by the Accountant in Bankruptcy.
My form 5 is signed and dated by my trustee on the 6th of February, two days ago, and other dates include 25th of February 2011 when it was obviously confirmed it was set up and finally it says it was recorded "as a protected trust deed in the register of insolvencies on 19th of April 2011".
So by having the form in my hand, am I completely discharged or not, or if not, how long can it take to be confirmed by the Accountant in Bankruptcy ?
Congratulations to you A.D.
I'm pleased to hear that everything has worked out exactly as it should do.
You can check whether (and when) the AIB have recorded this yourself online. Go to their website and then access the Register of Insolvencies. Once you've registered you can look up your own file there and you'll find the relevant entries.
It would be great if you could share your experience with other people here in the future.
A celebration tonight?
brilliant news, enjoy your debt free future!!

Trust deed completed Jan 2012,Trustee discharge Nov 2012.
A new dawn.
Thanks guys.
No celebration, working later, and thanks TDA, I will do that and yes, I will be more than happy to share my experiences !
Hi AD, it took the AIB about a week to show the date of discharge after my Trustee contacted them. Guess it depends how busy they are but you shouldn't be waiting any real length of time.
Doesn't take long to register for an account on the AIB website.
Well done on reaching the end, it's a fantastic feeling.
Thanks CIF.
I did wonder about how long it would take, so that's good news.
Fantastic feeling ? You'd better believe it !
Hi A.D,
Well done on successfully completing your Trust Deed. Your date of discharge will be the date on which the AIB place on the register of insolvencies. As others have said you can check this free of charge by registering online.
Often when I speak with someone for the first time when they are in financial difficulty they think that a Trust Deed sounds too good to be true and always ask what the catch is. If a Trust Deed is set up correctly then it really does work for people in providing the debt relief that they need. All three statutory debt relief options in Scotland (Trust Deed, DAS and Sequestration) are excellent tools to assist people that are struggling financially to become debt free.
I always tell my clients about the forum and give them the website address so they can pop on and read other peoples stories and experiences with regards to how they ended up in debt and how they have managed to resolve it. I think for people being able to share and talk about their difficulties and realise that they are not the only people struggling with debt and in a difficult situation helps and that's the great thing about the forum.
Best wishes for the future A.D and don't be a stranger!
David is not currently posting in the Trust-Deed.co.uk forum
fantastic...6 payments to go and i will be there too .cant wait !
Thanks for that David.
I have already enrolled on the AIB website and viewed my td on the register ! All that is missing is the date, but as I already have the form 5 I'm guessing it won't be long until the blanks are filled in !
And as I intimated previously, I will continue to come on here to see how others are getting on and offer a bit of advice if I can.
And cal ? The six months will fly in although the last one will feel like six months itself !
