I contacted my Trust Deed people today and they said "The Trustee remains in office at the moment as he is currently investigating whether i was mis-sold PPI".
"When the investigation is complete they will then pay a dividend to my Creditors and my Trustee will seek his own discharge".

I wonder how long details remain on the register. I typed in a random common surname McFarlane and it detailed a sequestration from 2001.

I would have thought at the very least it woukld mirror the credit file of 6 years.

Jeez! Just typed 'Smith' and it details one from 1991.

This is interesting, does anyone know how long a person is listing on the register before it is removed & by whom?

Maybe these are cases where the trustee is still in place, Mark? 1991 is a long time ago, but it is possible if there is some kind of long-term issue.

Presumably there would be quite a few Smiths showing up from 1991 if they were all still there.

I knew that this topic was familiar! Only the cases being discussed before were from 1994.

I haven't double-checked on the AiB website, but this was true when I posted it in February this year (sod's law, it will have changed now!):

The 'user guide' for the Register of Insolvencies says that

"Searches will return details of all ÔÇ£liveÔÇØ bankruptcy cases plus those that were discharged in the past two years. For protected trust deeds, returns will be made on ÔÇ£liveÔÇØ cases plus those discharged in the past year"

So, if a 1994 case is still on the Register, that suggests that one of the following must be the case:

- the bankruptcy is still "live"
- the bankruptcy has ended in the past two years (trustee discharged)
- there's been a mistake!

I think that the '6 years' timescale is to do with credit records - which is a different kettle of fish

When I learn how to do links to other posts, I'll be dangerous!

Hope it helps anyway.
