Hi All,
Can you tell me why if you google a name (if they are in a trust deed) it shows the date of the issue and the page in the Edinburgh Gazette, I thought it was difficult to get this information unless you went into the Edinburgh Gazette website, Google have made some changes is this why. it's all a bit embarrasing.
Hi perston,
Google trawls the information that is held on websites and may then decide to index it to display if a relevant search request is made in the future.
At the support team we sometimes get calls from people who cannot locate the contact details of their trust deed company. By asking their full name we can perform a web-search to help provide them the contact details they needs.
All I can say is that when we do this it's hard enough to find someone's entry on the Edinburgh Gazette website let alone on a general Google search using their name.
I'm sure that there may be some exceptions to this where the Gazette result may appear amongst the first page of Google results (on a search on that exact name) but I haven't personally seen it.
Maybe other readers who are in current trust deeds could try putting their name into Google and seeing if any record of their Edinburgh Gazette entry appears?
Tried it with my name, nought came up.... Maybe your just unlucky Preston...?
Hi
Tried it myself and phew! nothing [:I]
God, whats going on here, I am sure if you all done an advance search it would come up, is this a vendetta against me? By the way my name is not Chris if you tried googling my name, I was trying to keep this all hush hush, what can I do to get it removed from google? Any help please please.
Hi perston
I don't think there is anything you can do as the Edinburgh Gazette like most things on the internet is open to the public.

Hello perston,
I've got a couple of suggestions.
Firstly I understand that it's possible to ask Google to remove an indexed webpage from search results. However I'm not sure whether this is possible only if it is you that owns/runs the website itself.
On a more practical level you may wish to join a couple of forums using your own full name and post on some subjects there. This may produce Google results over time that sit above the Gazette entry. Opening Facebook and Twitter accounts in your own name might have the same effect. It will not remove the Gazette entry from the listings but they may well push the Gazette entry further down the list of results. Most people only look at the first page of results.
I think it's also fair to say that very few people use the advanced search functions on Google so your entry may be less prominent that you fear.
Hi TDA,
Great suggestion, many thanks, I will do that now. Honestly this site and you guys are brilliant. Keep up the good work.
I tried to google my name but I am lucky in that there are famous people with the same name as me!
Hi Guys,
Just to let you know I tried everything and it would still not go away, anyway I contacted the Edinburgh Gazzette and guess what? An email from them today saying it has now been removed and it has. Thank God!
Hi perston. Reading your posts with great interest. I too can be found quite easily on google. What did you do to resolve your issue? Did you contact the Gazette direct and ask them to help?
For what it's worth, I just tried googling the names of about half a dozen people with unusual names who signed trust deeds with us over the last year or so and the gazette advert came up for none of them on a basic search. Seems like it shouldn't be a problem for most people.
Hi Newbie65,
Glad someone else has had it I was beginning to get paranoid!! I can see what Kevin is saying but trust me it came up on the first page and not an advance search. May I say that my wifes has gone also but I did not ask for this, maybe they have removed some of them due to my email. Anyway Newbie65 I contacted them through email on their website and I had a response within 2 days, it was just on general enquiries and it went through, hope this helps. P.S if you cant get the gazette website try GOOGLE it's amazing what it can do!!
