I like to keep my business private from friends, colleagues and family - especially my financial business. A member of my family knows a Debt Collector and the DC knows me in a roundabout way though not my full details (though he could add up).
Do DCs frequent the Edinburgh Gazette or is it just creditors?
If DCs do read the Gazette, is it professionally prudent for them to tell any Tom, Dick and Harry "guess who I have seen in the Gazette?"
Hi Selleck
I think the answers are no and no. It's possibly the biggest collection of info that no one is interested in, in the UK.
Some banks and credit reference agencies check it, but I don't think debt collectors would have an interest.

Hi selleck,
The fact is that the information is publicly available and anyone who wants to go looking would be able to find it.
However you really would need a reason to want to go looking for it... no-one's very likely to stumble upon it by accident.
Hi Selleck
Like TDA states not many people have even heard of the Edinburgh Gazette, but it is a public record.
