I am 6 months into a trust deed could you please tell me if this will effect my application to becoming a supported carer simiar to fostering but 16yr olds
jockdock
I've no idea to be honest jockdock, but would be surprised if it would. I imagine they do a criminal record check through Disclosure Scotland, but a trust deed would not show on this as it is not a criminal matter.
The only sure way of knowing is to ask them, or request more information on their criteria from them.
Hi jockdock, sorry, like Kevin, I have no idea! As always, if in doubt, you should ask the relevant body for clarification.
On a separate matter I presume that your household income and expenditure will change if your application is successful. Remember to keep your trustee up to date with any changes.

A question for Julie and/or Kevin...
Payments are often made to supported carers for the benefit of the child.
Would this income have to be taken into account for the purposes of a Trust Deed do you think?
Hi TDA
My understanding is that although you canÔÇÖt take a contribution from any form of benefit this would be taken into account when assessing the income and expenditure.
i.e. Weekly wage ?ú150
Weekly Benefits ?ú350
Total Income ?ú500
Weekly Expenditure ?ú300
Disposable income ?ú200
Although this is an unrealistic example the maximum contribution you could take would be ?ú150.
Hope this makes sense!

As Julie says, it would have to be taken into account when assessing what contributions are affordable - though of course the extra expenditure associated with caring for a young person would also be included on the outgoings side of things.
